WTF?

NC on radio pig pre match interview said we get nothing from corners and we have been working on them and trying different things. Yeh, every corner was drifted in softly for the keeper. After we had done it 3 times they cottoned on, we drifted it in again, goalie caught it unaposed again, gets it out quick to No14 (Samuels) waiting for delivery on halfway gets it scores. FROM OUR CORNER.

Is it lack of height? To far for our little chappies to kick a dead ball as far as the goal mouth?

We haven't got a single player out of 41 who can whip a corner in? Get Woodward back!

Edit. That No14 Sammuels (I think) caused us problems all afternoon. Get him signed

Bob Harris can whip a great delivery in, the players must be told to take them like that otherwise i'm pretty sure they wouldn't.

Whatever Cloughy is saying to them they need to change it because we are absolutely shite at them.

No matter how small our squad is you will always have a better chance of scoring from a good whipped in delivery.

At our first corner I mused that for any loose balls dropping round the edge of the box I'd rather have Bob up to shoot. My dad suggested Doyle. They were the two back on halfway. I also said we may as well get men back to cover them breaking before we even take it considering how pointless out corners are.

A little later Harris and Doyle couldn't stop a counter attack and we went behind.

I think I'd have Brayford back on halfway at our corners and allow Harris to be ready to recycle possession if it's half cleared or have a shot from distance if he can.

I don't get why we are so poor at this, there must be all sorts of routines we could try.

I wonder if it's bc training and pre-season focus on open play and not set pieces, and with games coming thick and fast there's not much time to work on anything - though I find that hard to believe.

If we are going to cross it then Kennedy seems like our best player in the air(?), he wanted to go up towards the end today at 2-2 but Clough sent him back. (Not arguing the pros or cons just pointing it out.)

Given how tight we pass it around at the back and in midfield why are we suddenly scared when two men come out to cover one going for a short corner? If nothing else play it short and work it in: anything's got to be better than passing it to their keeper.

Posted this in another thread but it's so good I thought I'd post it here as well.
