For all the monty lovers (and haters) here's a theory for you.
For years it looked like we couldn't winkle monty out of BDTBL with a big pin, now I believe McCabe forged links with west coast mariners, specifically to get monty as far away as humanly possible, sent monty there then cut links with WCM so there was no way back, a modern day convict ship, one way to the antipodes .
Coincidence or something more sinister?

One or all above details may not be true, you decide :)

On July 20, 1969 Montgomery was seen entering Shepperton Studios dressed in an astronaut's suit carrying an American flag.

Four and a half thousand years ago, Nick Montgomery was seen parking an enormous pyramid-shaped spacecraft somewhere in the suburbs of Giza.

That fact that Monty ever got paid to play football is incredible - A conference 'player' at best a pub footballer at worst !!
Monty made a very good living out of football without ever mastering the basics of the game Full Stop !

Monty pinched a wage for years ...FACT..sod the testimonial !
Totally agree Joeydee.I have allready paid enough money to him through the club, bollocks to the testimonial.Thank fuck for the Central Coast Marriners.

Ah but that sublime run and cross he made for Danny Webber to score at St. James' Park in 2006 makes it all worthwhile......we've had a lot worse players than Monty in our time.

When we got promoted and for half the season in the Prem Monty was as good a defensive midfielder as we have had. Had we have had that version of Monty playing on Saturday we would not have conceded the second goal, some of the tracking work he did to help the back four was immense. He couldn't pass and his distribution was poor, but he was good at what he did when we needed him.

Interestingly I remember what was either his debut or one of his early games coming off the bench on the right wing at Tranmere. He was this tricky right winger who ghosted past the full back about three times! Not sure what happened there!

It was at Norwich in October 2000. I was there. We lost 4-2 after being 2 up (Kelly and Brown scored) and Marcus Bent was sent off near the end

What was the score when Monty came on Silent?
If you don't mind mate,thanks.

Monty for me optimized the Blades, hard working, full of effort, sometimes surprisingly good but ultimately not quite good enough! Never stopped me turning up week in week out for nearly 40 years though! UTB!

haha brilliant.
I can't slate him too much because his effort levels were through the roof- but what an horrendous footballer
