Connor Dimaio

Time will tell, but he reminded me of Michael Carrick. Always showed, never panicked, rock solid first touch, always turned away from trouble, never gave the ball away.

I've seen promising debuts, but never one by a player in that midfield anchor role. That's normally reserved for grizzled old professionals.

Kudos, Connor.

:)

What a player. I can't remember a debut like that before. Tonge used to play above his age but that was incredible. Take a very long bow son. M.O.M for me.

Agree wholeheartedly. He was absolutely outstanding tonight. It takes a natural talent that very few have to create the time he had on the ball. Especially in such a fast paced game against some, shall we say "over enthusuastic" opposition. I thought they were very cynical and our youngsters dealt with it extremely well.

Dimaio should have a very bright future, hopefully with us.

He was superb. It needs saying again that was a debut start and he didn't put a foot wrong. How old is Connor ?

Looking forward to Clough's comments on all the kids. Loved it when Cloughie told him to slow down and acknowledge the fans when he came off.

I thought he had future England international written all over him - but then realised he has played for Ireland u19s despite being born in England. Shame - but hopefully he will go onto great things with us.What looked like members of his family were in front of me in the Family Stand - they looked very proud and rightly so.

Bejesus , typical Brit , paddy bashing again , what's next criticising someone from Chesterfield playing for the Italians . ;)

Just me? Thought he was a six out of ten. Went missing at times, and was nothing compared to Doyle, who has been immense in recent weeks in the same role.
Connor did Ok/quite well, but nothing more.

Thought Khan was the best of the younguns.
Kennedy did well 7.5/10, not as good as Posh, lost quite a few headers to Revell before Harry went in him.

Oh yes, it's just you alright! The rest of us must have watched the match.

Haha Pinchy, usually agree with you, but in truth while I think the lad did OK, Doyle has just been ace for the last couple months. Hence, I just thought Connor wasn't as good. Heck, Doyle is probably playing as well now as any time in a Blades shirt, if the lad had come in any other time maybe I'd be more impressed.

clough is a one off ,dunt need any money ,will find and produce "the lost generation" the best manager England never ad

7 for your kit on right way around.

Hence Jordan Stewart got a few 3's for boots on wrong feet (least that is what it looked like)

I think the lad Dimaio did well. He kept it simple, moved it on and showed some neat touches and one or two adventurous balls. For a debut it was very good and looked like he had played for a while. However I cant give him more marks as he is young or never played before. I think 7.5 was fair. He did nothing spectacular in terms of assisting on goals, making chances, stopping goals/tackles etc but was steady to good with a lot of promise.

As others have said thought Khan in his cameo really impressed me.

OK Michael, time for bed you've got training in the morning

He reminded me of McDonald in the way that he found space and came and got the ball off the centre halves. By no means the same player as McDonald but equally happy to have the ball and looked comfortable with it. First half anyway. He faded a bit in the second.

Deluded! 18 years of age turning, tackling and spreading balls left and right against a team 3rd in the table on his debut and you describe his performance as "OK". You can't possibly compare him to Doyle he is an experienced professional who has been playing for over 10 years. Not many youngsters come in the team play centre midfield at 18 with the confidence he had.

Rant over.

That doesn't matter mate. He's not been capped by anybody.

Carl Jenkinson played internationally...

England U17
Finland U19
Finland U21
England U21
England

He also played for England before the U/21s

3/4 times he came to take the ball short from Long when the other options were unavailable. I didn't think he put a foot wrong, although could probably do with a summer getting stronger physically.
