Morning blades, dingle here, some may remember me from last season having the banter with a few of you lot at the end of last season. Anyway credit where credit is due just want to say well done for finally getting out of that horrible league, it will be good having another local club in the championship ( lets hope the wendys stay put) your manager as done an absaloutley fantastic job for you, i would just like to ask, what is your expectations for next season ? I think you will finish top 10, consolidate and push on the season after, the championship is a very different beastvto what it was 6/7 seasons ago, it changed in the 2 years we were out of it, we played newcastke and obe of there unused subs was worth more than our entire squad, madness, antway like i said, well done and all the best for next season ( apart from our 2 games against you)

Cheers.
It is not La Liga. I've watched a few games and obviously there is better players around but we are a very good team. We've pissed this league and with 2 or 3 additions will be o.k.
Barnsley would have been in with a shout of the play offs if they hadn't sold their best players and they were the 6th best team in league one.
UTB!

Get rid of the squad players and replace them with some extra quality and just send them back out. Anything is possible but I just want to be competitive again after 6 years not being

I keep telling any of my Wendy mates who all seem to insist its the hardest, best league in the world and we are in for a shock that although no blade is going to start saying we will piss the league I look at teams such as yourselves, who have sold some quality this season and last and Huddersfield for gods sake doing very, very well and of cousre villa who came the other way, spent loads and are a mid table team, my confidence, like most blades is, like you and no doubt Huddersfield is in the manager, good luck tyke for the future.

Very generous of you portsmouthtyke .

Actually I think we need to be looking at Barnsley for the model of how to adapt to life in the championship. Shame you sold some of your best players in the JTW as until then it looked like you might challenge for the playoffs. I remember thinking when we played you at the Lane at the end of the season that Barnsley were very strong at the back, good keeper in Davies, good solid CB in Richards and also there was a lot of pace in the team. I think most Blades fans would agree that we lack a number of pacy players and perhaps this is something we'll be looking to strengthen.

The concern is that we don't do a Wigan, who looked very strong at the Lane last season but are struggling to stay up.

Barnsley have done fantastic this season and full credit and respect to your manager and his staff. We are now a club with a strong leadership team in CWAK, they have our confidence to make the right decisions. I'm not fearing the Championship, but really looking forward to it.

Agreed, I've had to cast my eyes towards Barnsley and concede that they had done a good job (in the whole) with stabilising their club in the Championship. The benefit of establishing a good foundation.

Good luck to you portsmouthtyke (except in two of your matches next season)

The biggest change in the Championship?...

Agent's ability to hike up a player's value and wages.

We'll be fine.

Thanks. I think most of us would be pleased if we could have a season similar to your own (minus the sale of star players in January).

Thanks

We'll keep the first team players, improve their contracts. Then there's a few players that will be surplus to requirements, maybe eight to ten of them.

Replace them with three top quality players from League One relatively cheaply that are more than capable of making the step up, and then add maybe two proven Championship players, one up front and one at the back and we'll be ok for a nice transitional mid table finish next season.

It's often the way when you get promoted, the initial jubilation dies down and then the harsh reality and concern sets in after that.
But I do not feel worried about the Championship at all, I feel that Wilder will improve the quality again and give that additional quality the drive and determination to succeed.

A good season for us will be mid table as we try to re-establish ourselves back in the Championship and Wilder will be under no pressure to do any better than that. He will be free to build a team and the team will be free from expectation to play their football

You never know we might have one of our proven Championship quality players already if John Brayford comes back and rediscovers his previous form.

Under Wilder he'd have every chance of getting back to his best, a right sided full back/wing back would have every chance of improving under Wilder

But that's only if he want's to come back and if Wilder wants him back of course
