[Confirmed] Wilson & Barlow have left the club - Morgan in charge until end of season

The key thing seems to be that the team is utterly lacking in confidence. With their position in the table and the games in hand they should have been brimming with self-belief. If Wilson has gone we need someone who can restore some confidence back in the side - and quickly. Warnock is an obvious choice but how well does he know the current players? Morgan knows the players but the results of the Under 21s - which I belief is his responsibility - have been terrible, so he's hardly proved himself - yet. Who else is out there?

I agree. Its a gamble that could backfire. However Neil knows the club & Fans. & knows how to win promotion.

Morgs is the obvious available choice. He's respected throughout the club, he will be beating his chest prior to games. He actually knows from the U21s who is ready and who isn't. Irrespective of results, there's only 2 or 3 who can step up.

He can get a further spark from the crowd as well.

Should we be lucky enough to get to Wembley he wouldn't put up with a "no show"

He'll be forgiven if it doesn't work for whatever reason.

Obviously he isn't fit enough to play centre back any more but he can't do any worse than our strikers if he was to play himself. ;)
 
Neil Warnock?! Why on earth would we want him back and for such a short period. Just get Morgan on, worst case we fail in the play offs, Best case, he gets up.
 
I can't see Morgan being given the job.

We have a team with a realistic chance of promotion (but under-performing). Do they sack a manager who has many years' experience and replace him with an untried coach with no managerial experience at such a time.

I don't think so.

The same best and worst case as if DW remains in charge. The only difference is DW has done this management thing before.

The problem being if we do go up he'll get the job full time. The only thing he could do for me is gee them up. Can't see him being a great tactician

David Flitcroft didn't have any managerial experience and was in a similar coaching role when he took over Barnsley and he's doing ok. You wouldn't think Wilson has years experience given his lack of ideas and tactical nous.
 
Can somebody remind me what Pemberton has done wrong?
I got the impression he would have been the fans favourite for the job last time except we didn't want to lose him from the Academy setup.
He knows the club and the players, including the juniors. Plays attractive, passing football. Successful with the U18's.
IF Wilson has gone, he'd seem to be the ideal choice for at least the last few matches. Wouldn't he?

No... but from what I've been reading around, some people seem to be under the impression that he's still at United and it'd be a piece of piss to move him from the Academy... when he isn't there any more.

1. The rumour is completely without foundation. If true, one would have thought the club would have someone already lined up and would have made an official announcement.

2. Wilson and McCabe have had a heart-to-heart and Wilson has offered his resignation. The club are considering this, and particularly the possibility of getting in another manager at this late stage.
