A left back who can get forward, which is what we've been crying out for. He hasn't played a great deal lately but I don't see what's wrong with this personally?
Exactly a full back who can push on and give width, just as they should in 4-2-3-1.

The likes of Johns and McGinty almost certainly weren't players Weir had lined up ahead of him joining, but likely had been lined up before he arrived. I'd throw Brandy and McGinn in with those too, despite them being much more involved. Who knows if he's been more involved since then with the signings, but those since then appear to fit Weir's system a bit better.

Even if we're assuming that Weir didn't choose to sign the first four (Brandy, McGinn, McGinty and Johns), he still knew that he had them in the squad and available to him, even if only as cover.

He then went out and signed a further two attacking midfielders (he picks both), three centre forwards (he only ever plays with one) and two defensive central midfielders to supplement McGinn and Doyle (he can only pick two out of the four).

He'd already lost faith in both Williams and McGinty as first choice left back by the 24th August (Bradford match) and there was still a week left in the transfer window. So why is he only now trying to sign an attacking left back to suit his preferred/only formation when he knew he didn't have such a player six games ago?

My wife's a Norwich City STH and even she rolled her eyes when I mentioned it. She tells me he was ok in spells but never really had a consistent run of games! Should be ace for us then!

Fair comment. May be that the board wouldn't sanction a permanent deal for a left back when we've already got 3 (4 if Johns counts) on the books, but that a loan deal would be acceptable.

I'm a bit disappointed that neither Flynn nor McFadzean have been tried in the full-back positions, particularly McFadzean, as both on the face of it would probably offer us much more going forward than other options.

I would try Coady at right back as he's got all the right attributes.
He's supposed to played have played centre back before, so it's not that much of a stretch?
I'd prefer a specialist but there's no sign of us signing one and I'm really fed up with McMahon.

Sounds like this will be a confirmed thread tomorrow, according to Paul Walker on twitter.

Just had a very quick search on him, Norwich fans seemed to describe him as a steady eddie who was able to put in a decent cross. Maybe not quite the forward bombing, overlapping type? But hopefully an improvement on what we've got? Has anyone seen him?

Don't much about him but he is an attacking left full back. I think Weir's system is crying out for attacking full backs to provide genuine width and some much needed crosses. Could be a good signing. I think Hill genuinely tries in that role but is not cut out for it. He will be good centre half cover though. Anyone seen more of him is he quick?

What's Walker been rabbiting on about now? Wonder what sort of mentality Lappin has - will Weir use the carrot or stick approach? Was he at Norwich at the same time to play in front of that former Blade, Bunny?

Anyway, enough of the puns. One or two are ok, but this amount is holely unwarrented.

Slow learner ;).

Seriously, the assessment of the squad was not done properly this summer. Hard to say if Weir got poor advice from staff that remained.

They had also not done their research, didn't Carsley or Weir they had watched only the Yeovil game from last season? Should have watched all the games they could, in my opinion.

Hmm.. another McMahon... great. Now where's the nearest rope shop?

Indeed, remember Morgs said after the Yeovil game that we only needed 'one or two'

Good signing if true, was rated pretty highly by the Norwich faithful and having seen him play a few times I can see why!
