Interesting one :)

Sheffield United have won the race to sign out-of-contract Kyel Reid, skysports.com understands.

The Blades beat off competition from a number of sides to land the youngster's signature on a two-year-contract, with Wolves, Birmingham, Burnley, Middlesbrough, West Brom and Newcastle all thought to have been interested.

Reid was available on a free transfer after his previous deal at West Ham United expired at the end of last season.

He signed professional terms with the Hammers in 2005 and has since had loan spells at Barnsley, Crystal Palace, Blackpool and Wolves.

fast left winger, did well at his loan spells this season, 3 sides who went up want him, 3 sides who went down want him

would be happy with this signing :)

Never heard of him but if all the clubs mentioned want him then it'll be a good signing:D

t'old reliable wiki has said hes signed

On 15 January 2009, Reid joined Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan for the remainder of the season [9], making his debut on 24 January 2009, in a FA Cup 4th Round tie against Middlesbrough. Reid's first - indeed, only - goal for Wolves came in a 1-1 draw at Barnsley on 25 April 2009; a goal which secured the the 2008-09 championship title for Wolves.

After being released by West Ham, he signed for Sheffield United in a two-year deal on 16 June 2009.

Might as well be Kyle. Reckon Blackie has a fetish? :D

Just seen this on Wikipedia - made me smile - someone is quick off the mark!! :D

"Kyel Romaine Reid (born 26 November 1987) is an English football midfielder, who plays for Sheffield United. He played for Wet Spam untill he realised they are cheats. now he has been link with a team with a loyal fan base and good stature Sheffield United."

Blackwell will probs want to unveil both of them 2moz to show he is actually doing something apart from screaming "long ball" to the squad!

Apparantly Blackwell has 'denied' anything relating to Reid. Not that it means much when it comes to possible signings.

Blackwell's mind is only full of how many different voices he can say 'long high ball' so he's probably forgotten about signing him... ;)

People are claiming Blackie says 'long ball' to the team all the time, when i've seen him upclose at matches be it on the TV or at the ground he always seems to be telling the team the exact opposite.
To pass and keep the ball as much as possible.
We just happen to have players who panic when pressured and play it longer to avoid losing it in bad positions.

seen him play a few times and every time he was f-ing crap. Hope its just a coincidence that he had a bad game every time i saw him play!!!!

Blackwell - "Sounds like just the man for us...... where do I sign?" ;)

Which is supported by his comments on Radio Sheff where he's said he has to continually get instructions on to the park as (weaker?) players make wrong decisions.

If thats the case, then the players who are deliberately going against what he is saying should be dropped for the next game.

indeed, but what use is a manager if he cant manage the players?

There can scarely be a team in the country where the players follow the managers instructions to the letter - even Fergusson gets his hair off sometimes!

And sometimes it's not wilfull disobedience - it's mis-understanding, it's reading the game differently than from the gaffer, it's that the plan changes as the game develops - and sometimes it's pure panic (as Sensi says).

If it's stroppy players - then drop em as Robbie says - - but many players are little more than (over-paid) kids and often an arm around the shoulder is more constructive.

We've had some good man managers over the years - Harry was probably the best, but Warnock had his moments too. I'd like to think that Blackwell picked up a trick or two from his old gaffer.

.

we dont have to play to the letter no team does.
but whats to mis-understand from play it up to henderson long for him to hold it up and lets get it on the floor lads, get it down the lines and lets make space and movement. Either players are really that stupid or blackwell cant get tactics right.
The plan never changes at times, it seems to be the same stuff time after time.

I think Keenzy's right to a degree. My big frustration with Blackwell has been the lack of a Plan B - and that was nowhere clearer than at Wembley. Towards the end of the season things seemed better with far more passing short balls - often in 4-5-1. That gave me some hope.

But I do think that Sensi has got a point too - in that the players at times seem to panic and just hump the ball into the box - Donny and Forest at home were classics for that. Lots of effort but simply not enough guile and intelligence.

When things start to go wrong for us, the lads seem to try even harder at the same thing - rather than try something different. Is that each player being less than professional (or thick as a brick)? - weak captaincy from Morgs? - weak management from Blackwell? - -or more likely a combination of the lot?
