If you think this is how it works you really are out of touch! Transfer interest = agent talking to club(s) and telling his client to say nothing to nobody without said agent being present.

When the player sits down with his calculator and works out that £25K/week for 3.5years gives him £4.5M to play with who of us fans would honestly stay with The Blades and not fuck off.

You'd play for the pigs for that type of money.

doyles been crap because we gave him the contract. he doesnt need to try now. incredibly dumb decision, and i said that at the time.

I'd imagine the best bet when you are going to make someone club captain is put him on a pay as you play deal :)

hmm. he didnt need a 3 year deal though did he?? its not like anybody was going to poach him off us. why would you even give a player over 30 a 3 year deal? hes never exactly been our lionel blair

I'm not saying he should have :) Just that if you are going to make someone a club captain, it generally makes sense to have them on a decent(ish) term contract.

Willie Carlin and Colin Addison are both in my top 20 Blades. Perhaps a personal affectation, because they were part of my formative years as a Blade.

Little Willie was much more than a 'terrier'. He had good control and vision. In modern terminology, he was technically good. He could pass the ball and got the odd goal, memorably scoring a header [he was a midget, for those who don't remember] in a 2-1 win against some team or other [I know you will fill in the detail :)]

As for Addison - I remember him as a class act. We hadn't really got into 4-4-2 and all that bollocks at this time. I don't think he was a replacement for Mick Jones at all; he was much more of an old fashioned inside-forward. I remember Mick Hill as the immediate [and vastly inferior] replacement for Jones. What clinches the matter in Addo's favour is this: The Kop [at a time when it generated both volume and wit] had not one but two songs for him [or was it even three - I've a feeling I've forgotten one]! Anyway, altogether now - "Here's to you Colin Addison...."
The other song for Addison was 'He's here, he's there, he's every fucking where, Addison, Addison .

I am afraid danny`s pig credentials are going to rankle with ever more fans now, as his tactical nous has been exposed as lacking, the team is losing games, etc etc..season is over already, how long can danny last?
It is? Well, at least we made the play offs.

As I mentioned in an earlier post in this thread, Carlin's sale to Derby was a bit clandestine. Taylor tapped him up before a game at the Lane. Rowley thought he'd done the "trickery". I was gutted . . .
But it didnt stop Carlin from scoring in the 2-0 win against Derby. In a Derby County history book Carlin said he was surprised that before the game, Clough came up to him saying "I hear that your boss doesnt fancy you!" Carlin wondered if Clough was trying to "bribe" him. A week or two later John Harris (general manager) told Carlin "Your boss wants to see you in his office". Carlin was wondering if he was in a sort of trouble. when he got into Rowley's office he was surprised to see Clough there too. Clough asked Carlin "fancy joining Derby". Carlin replied "What? Now? My wife and I have just moved into a new house". Clough then said "OK I will drive you over to your house". On the way to Carlin's house, Clough teased Carlin by saying "who wears the trousers?who wears the trousers?". On arrival, Carlin's wife was surprised to see Clough and Carlin asked her "Shall I sign for Derby". She replied "Now? we have only just moved into a new house!". Clough then started to speak to her but Carlin paused him saying "It is me you are trying to sign". Clough responsed "I have already signed you, now I am talking to the wife!"

So today is all about who we get in.

If anyone.

Woe betide Kev if he trots out the ....... We tried for one or two but........... line.

Didn't Addison score in a televised away game at Arse ? A day when nearly every match was postponed due to the weather. You could clearly hear the Blades fans in the background singing

ADDY ADDY ADDY ADDISON

Carlin scored at the Sty didn't he ?

Addison chant at Arsenal on TV mentioned in post 584.

Carlin played the ball through for Hill to score at the Sty. (Again mentioned earlier in thread)

Tried for one or two which haven't come off, nevermind because we plan to strengthen as the loan window opens very shortly and that will drive us on.........

Do we really want to get out of this division or not, crowds will drop if we don't which will mean 65% will be of less turnover, corporate not doing as much now either, loads of empty boxes on John St.

Do people seriously think that United would have allowed the Blackman deal to go through without having all the loose ends tied up on incoming deals? (cough)
