I would have thought there might have been some loan activity this week based on our defensive frailties highlighted in the last 3 games. I suppose until it changes we'll just have to hope we score at least 3 goals and don't start to play once we're well behind again. Still time I suppose, keeping my fingers crossed big Dan Burn joins tomorrow, Che is fit and Billy continues to find the net.

My concerns are the same ones I had before the Bury and Colchester games, although now I don't arrogantly believe we can limp to victory against the 'lesser' sides with our incomplete team.

I don't know how much clearer Adkins can be when he says he doesn't want to enter the loan market until they can carry on through past the new year fixtures, that's not until the end of next week by my reckoning so I would be very surprised if anyone came in until after the Burton game.

As for Saturday the same problems are and will be there, weak defence particularly on the left side and lack of bite in Midfield.

We will need to take our chances as I would fancy most teams to score at least two goals against us every game at the moment. Last year Donny ran us ragged in midfield but we somehow managed to win 3-2. I can see it being a similar sort of game, hopefully the same result.

Also, unless I've missed something the chance of bringing Burn in was shot down by the injuries to a couple of Fulham's centre halves, and he started against Wednesday the other day.

Something a long the lines of 'Burn won't be allowed to join Sheffield United' was the article headline from somewhere down south.

Nothing we can do but give our support. So frustrating that the major problems from last season are still there. I've gone from "be good to set the pace this season" to "let's get to January and still be in contention with the top 2".

I'm getting to the stage where I hope we are still in contention for the top six.

It all sounds so familiar. Last few seasons 'we'll wait for the loan window' turned into 'we'll wait till we can get their 93 day's to stretch over the new year' then we end up signing someone in mid november when we're miles off the pace.

Whats the fascination with signing someone that goes over into the new year? Not signing anyone has resulted in us gaining 1 point from 3 games, can we really afford to drop any more?

Excuses, this club is full of em.

Think he came of the bench after they'd conceded goals from two corners in the first half. That's what the BBC reporter said on Final Score anyway.

Your right Xpress, but come on let the Burns thing go, he won't be coming.

Ok, for Burn, replace with anyone more competent at defending and better than we already have. What's Harry Maguire doing these days :p

Flynn is back Saturday according to Paul Walker. I'd like to see him at right back with Freeman at left back. Also stick Kennedy at centre half.

Walkers full tweet was "Brayford, Done & Cuvelier all joined in training today but not ready for first team action yet. Ryan Flynn is though back in the fold"

My main concern is that Rob Jones was at the Bury game and would have compiled a report under 'Pitifully Slow & Predictable'.
It wasn't the Bury game, it was the Colchester game. Based on that first half, he'd fancy his chances.

We need to get on the front foot, hopefully Che is ready.

Where do we start with the concerns? They're pretty well known and I would expect nothing less when they're 10 months old.

Let's have none of this waiting till end of next week bollocks, what about the games we have now? It's just the latest excuse to do fuck all about our areas of weakness. I bet Adkins is taking to it well, wonder what his next excuse will be at the end of next week?

No matter how brilliant the manager is meant to be, if we don't sign at least 2 more players, CB and CM, we will continue our poor form.

Stop with the excuses and get some players in for fuck sake.

Not worried at all - Donny have only scored 4 goals in 8 games - what a pathetic strike rate?
It'll be a piece of piss for our lads at the back as Donny have absolutely no chance of scoring on Saturday - not in a month of Sundays.

There. That's sorted it :)

United blade,

Our defence had very little to do all match because Bury rarely got in our half. We dominated the whole match but they defended really well as their defence seemed to have more physical presence than our attack.
2 of the Bury goals were school boy errors from Mcevely.

Its only the last 2 matches the defence had been poor. Didn't we only concede 1 goal in 5 matches when Edgar joined.

We're due a good defensive display again but confidence could be the problem Saturday.

Sadly, they are the same concerns we've had since pre season.

It won't be long until the loan window has come and gone too.

It was the Colchester game that Jones was at because I saw him before the game. He'll have a report on the Bury game but Jones was in Walsall with his side on the Saturday.

In that first half against Colchester, they could have been 6-0 up, they had that many chances. They tore us apart.

However, I agree we can't play that badly again and you would think they are sorting all this out. I'd be surprised if Jones tries to go for it in the way Colchester did.

We shall see.

Also stick Kennedy at centre half.

He played the full 90 on Monday – given he struggled to do 2 games in a week when he was at the top of fitness, I'd be amazed if he was thrown in. He can't be too far away though hopefully.

Six, seven losses maximum for the league winner, it a big mountain to climb already and it's only September.

Get them in now whilst they will still come, no one will fancy a relegation battle if we repeat 1 in 9 as a points haul.

The first 45 minutes are the obvious concern due to the last three matches in which we have been slow out of the traps and have conceded sloppy early goals. At home especially we need to be quick off the mark and get the early goal to kick on from.

I think that late show against Bradford has given Adkins something to think about as well, he said himself that he is now questioning whether to stick with his trusty 4-4-2 or not. Love him or hate him Jose baxter put on a decent show at the weekend and he deserves a starting birth and the same could probably be said for Sammon and even Alcock who was steady when he came on for McEeveley.

We also now have Che to factor back into things, he came through the u21 game the other night with a goal under the belt and is expected to be fully fit for this as well. I think this as well as the last half hour against Bradford gives us enough to be positive about if we get it right from the off.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to remember that we go through this same nonsense every year.

Others have mentioned that he may be more effective coming off the bench when the game has opened up a bit
