First post after lurking for a long time. Got that feeling of despair in the pit of my stomach so thought I’d post to try to get closure.
Think everyone was guilty of complacency last night. We didn’t choke. It’s far too early in the season for that. We just thought that we had it in the bag.
Firstly myself (the fans). At 80 mins I said to my son that this would be a statement result to the rest of the league. Should have known better. Football there to kick you in the nuts.
The players. McGoldrick shooting not passing. He wouldn’t have done that in a tight game. Henderson’s mistakes. Again he probably switched off and they get the first nothing goal which gives them hope.
The manager. Pretty sure Wilder thought the game was over and brought Cranie on to give him game time in the back 3 before Wednesday night knowing Basham suspended.
Everyone should have remembered that Villa’s only strength this year has been comebacks to get high scoring draws or wins.
