Whatever happens with this typically incompetent United mess, there needs to be better communication between the Prince and whoever is our manager going forward.

They seem to rarely communicate, which seems a bit mad to me. Especially since it's clear what the long-term plan of the Prince's is at odds with how Wilder wants to work. Which mean they're incompatible, but they've surely both known that from the start of last season?

The biggest concern for me now is that it feels we'll be on a downward spiral.

Supposition at present tbf but I don't envisage Wilder was overly unrealistic with his demands for next season.

If they're so much at odds with the owner then I struggle to see a scenario where we'll be that competitive next season.

Selling the better players and not replacing them will likely see no promotion challenge and a toxic atmosphere the players won't enjoy.

To avoid creating another thread (and there are already multiple threads about the same thing), I'll put this here.

What a shitshow it is that over a day after our manager has reportedly resigned/left by mutual consent/quit and not a word from the club.

Absolute joke. Amateur hour again. Why can we never do anything right?

As I said in another conversation earlier... I actually think it's far more professional than an interim comment with no substance.

Just because people are desperate to know something, doesn't mean anything should be said until there is something of substance to say.

Don't know about you but I need a greasy chip buttie to calm myself down. I'm so angry at the moment.

It's a fair point, but senior sources at the club, including the manager by the looks of it, were briefing the press that he'd left yesterday. It's a shambles that the press have gone with the story, had to backtrack and now we're in some kind of limbo. The problem is, they let the cat out of the bag and then desperately tried to stuff it back in. There should have been nothing coming out, but rumours, yesterday.

It's making all this speculation worse and it's polarising the support. It does a lot of harm to club, imo, if Wilder goes. Needs to be some kind of statement, even if it's just a quick holding response.

Foxy I honestly do believe that United owe it to fans to put even an interim statement out

They could quite easily and safely say "Yes CW has left and we are just finalising the transition". We dont need to know what CW is going to get moneywise or personal terms we just need to know Has he left Yes or No. Thats what is so unbelievable its a straight forward answer to a straight forward question. Finals terms are always going to be private so if they have not been decided then its not a public matter anyway. That is whats so strange. However hey we are Sheffield United we never do it like other clubs.

I don't know but perhaps something along the lines of, "following a miss communication between board and manager, certain rumours have emerged we are endeavouring to rectify this position A.S.A.P". In addition I'm not demeaning what you have written, perish the thought.

Who actually said that CW was off/resigning/being sacked, etc?

If it wasn't the club then why should they be blamed for so much.

I don't know how true it is that CW handed in his resignation. But if that is correct I am at a loss to understand what the club have done wrong.

Obviously if people are concerned what Lineker and his like think or that it puts us in a bad light fair enough. But who would really give a fuck about those things.

But if they have nothing to issue a statement on, then doing so would be a bit of a pointless, amateur, stupid exercise.

Do 'the club' then comment on every rumour that appears, is put out by Talksport, just when it hits Sky Sports News?

Often there's something in them, often they are wide of the mark from a snippet of realism extended into someone's imagination, often they are complete bullshit.

There's certainly something in this complicated situation, but until it's sorted, it's not sorted. Things also change very quickly in football, you very soon get into a position of having 'lied', by putting out too much, too early.

So effectively saying absolutely nothing? If the club tweet every time there's a rumor of something happening just to say "we know there's a rumour, we're looking into it" then they'll be tweeting the same thing 10 times a day every day.

The professional thing to do is not say anything until you can announce something that is confirmed and fact. The press on the other hand will post/print anything to get as much reaction from their readers as possible, even if it's based on pure speculation.

Starting to think some people on here would genuinely buy one of these;

No they don't communicate on everything but when something this big happens, surely they could do something to give the fans either hope or realisation. This is a situation that has not just been discussed on here but, practically very news outlet going if he stays I'm happy as I say best since John Harris. We have an important game tomorrow and next week a quarter final not really conducive to helping the squad prepare.

Let's face it this is more than a "rumour" as far as news concerned yesterday it was a cast iron certainty.

No use talking to me about a tweet no idea what so ever what they are, are thought it was a sound a bird made. I'm starting to get impression that folk are quite happy to see our club made a mockery off, well not all of us are.

By saying nothing we've had a day of fans throwing 'virtual' bricks at each other across the internet and most of those bricks are directed at the club and the owner. The longer this goes on without comment, the more those bricks and much more will come. So even if it turns out CW is still our manager on Monday then the club and owner have suffered reputational damage with the fans, press and in wider football. It will have done the manager no favours either.

I get it's tricky, especially since most of the rumours seem to come from the manager, but we're a business and it's the job of the club to communicate with its fans. The longer this drags on, the worse it will be.

In the same way, the club made a statement about Mousset. It said next to nothing but it just confirmed something.

I'm not sure why you think the club is being made a mockery of? They haven't announced anything as there's clearly nothing confirmed to announce yet.

Releasing a statement or holding a press conference saying "the manager is talking to the board about his future" adds absolutely nothing to the situation. So what exactly is it you'd like them to announce that will add to what we already know?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting we've handled it well or particularly look good, but i'm always a little baffled by the calling for statements and comment without the knowledge something definitive or finalised has finished occuring.

Exactly. Don’t believe anything until you see it as a Daily Mail headline.

This could make a laughing stock of us and that's on top of the worst season we've had since god was a nipper, the fans are entitled to information don't forget without fans there's no United and don't cite Covid, you know what I mean.
