Looking for some help.

My Uncle passed away just over a year ago. He was actually the one who got me into the Blades, in 2003 turning a 13-year-old without a club to support after Wimbledon moved to Milton Keynes into a fan for life when he took me to the FA Cup semi-final vs Arsenal at Old Trafford.

I've been thinking about doing something Blades-related as an act of commemoration and wondered if the Board knew of anything offered by SUFC. I remember they used to do commemorative bricks but can't find any evidence of that still being a thing.

He was a big Blade. He had a season ticket with his partner up until the time he passed away and previously had one with his daughter before that. My mum's also a Blade, and he was her little brother, so I know it'll mean a lot.

Apologies for the slightly soppy post, but any tips are much appreciated.

I think our “commemorative garden” is a tacky little after thought. If you compare it to the one Chesterfield it is very poor effort indeed.

Hi mate, just noticed the Blades memorial garden and Wall of fame is now open on the SUFC shop website. You could buy a brick for your uncle there: https://www.sufcdirect.co.uk/wall-of-fame/walloffame/

We ended up getting a stone in the Blades memorial garden. Thanks again for the heads-up, pal.

For anyone else interested, they will be taking orders of these until the end of March before sending off the order. Hopefully they'll then be put in the garden before the end of the season. Unfortunately they couldn't give me a clearer idea, but I've got my eye on the last home game of the season (and penultimate game overall) v Ipswich for a trip up to Sheffield.

That's great mate, glad you got sorted.

There might be an opportunity seeing as they have plans for the Cherry Street corner and possibly extending the kop and south stand? I’d drop them an email and ask?

As mentioned above there is the option of a memorial brick which is black with gold writing rather than the usual bricks around the ground.

We got one for my dad who passed away a couple of years ago. They do them in batches so depending on when the last batch was done you might have to wait a few weeks till you get a letter telling you it's been put in place. (Ours was around 6 weeks I think as we just missed the previous order)

Here's a pic I took at the time.

A few years ago, I contacted the club with a proposal to re-do the garden properly and raise the funds for the work myself. They were a bit passive about it or so I thought.

A poster on here informed me privately that drawings have been made for a new one previously, but budget constraints are an issue.

This is something me and me mum we’re talking about just the other week actually, we’ve got a brick on the wall next to your Dad’s I believe, for me old man after he passed away the other year. The little rockery thing at the bottom is extremely crowded now and I think it’s going to be hard for anyone wanting to lay new tributes to find a clear space. When we spoke to the office about first putting a brick there for my dad, the woman said they were looking at creating a memorial garden in the near future, but I’ve never seen anything mentioned since. How
Much do you reckon it would cost to create such a thing?
I’d gladly donate a yearly amount to help the upkeep of such a creation as I’m sure plenty of other people would, just for the chance to have somewhere nice and quiet to pay tribute to those who have introduced us to the highs and lows of supporting United.
Just a thought, I wondered how others felt about this sort of thing?

Yeah I emailed the club about it, but never got a reply. Was going to put a little reminder of my late father there but unfortunately it justs looks like something you see at the side of the road after a traffic accident. Done with all the love in the world but very haphazard.

I think it's worth pushing the club again on this, such a good idea, I know many who would help contribute so the club couldn't complain about the cost. It could be so much more than it is.

I suppose with the proposed development of the south stand it would be difficult to site a permanent memorial.
