Have you taken up photography Broomhill
Your avatar keeps changing a lot for """ someone older than me"""""""
Replica kits they did not even have a programme or floodlights when we started, winter kick offs at 2.00pm and team changes chalked up on a board and carried round the ground.
Some things have changed for the better!

I can relate to all that - except we did have a programme in the 1940s. It was a single sheet with two vertical folds, printed in black and white. No photographs.

As to my avatar - having discovered how easy it is to change it a few months ago, I keep having the urge to freshen it up. This one is a kookaburra that we used to feed at my daughter's house in Australia last year. We had a lovely 6-week holiday up in the Mount Tamborine area of Queensland. I've got some nice parrots and a brush turkey to come. Watch this space ... !

I was born in 1939.

They didn't sell replica kits until after the 1950s or 60s

Your post made me wonder who the first club to sell replica kits were and when.
According to wikipedia it's Leeds United in 1975.
Presumably, the Blades followed suit soon after so our first replica kit should be around 75-76?

I once wore a Blades shirt to the Nou Camp to watch Barcelona (with Barca Blade) but foolishly wore our white away one. Lots of people thought it was a Madrid shirt. Whoops.

I would like to get a Vancouver Whitecaps shirt but it's blue and white so balls to that.

If you had worn the red and white striped shirt they would have thought you were Atletico Madrid anyway - so screwed either way in Catalan country

Do you get to any games? Did you see Barry Robson play at all?

I don't go but I watched quite a few on TV. He played really well at the start of the season but seemed to drop slightly after a couple of months. He did have some family issues by all accounts so there's every chance that was part of his problems.
