Can't for the life of me see him coming to us on loan but what a fucking coup if he did 😍

I think you’re understating the impact of playing and training regularly with city’s first team. Getting balls from KDB, Silva, Rodri etc is something he’s not going to get here.

Might be less city players to go round given Leicester have just appointed Peps assistant - you’d have though they would be in line for some players too.
That is true but to be a complete player you have to show that you can succeed when you’re not getting that perfect pass from a world class player but can turn a less than perfect one into something. Nothing beats game time in men’s football and I think what happened with McAtee shows that with him turning from scared little boy into a team mainstay in 6 months. There is a conversation about the way top teams hoard these young players but if United can benefit from building a good working relationship with Manchester City and hopefully other teams like them then that’s fine with me.

Err , left midfield ?

You may well have seen more of him than I have but he wasn't playing left (central) midfield in the games I've watched him.

If he could do it then great but there's also the possible scenario that he'd be a square peg in a round hole with the result being similar to McAtee at Luton last season.

I must admit, he strikes me far more as a wide attacker (perfect in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3), a second striker or possibly a #10 than a hard working/running midfielder.

He also looks as though he'd be a prolific car thief if he wasn't a footballer - as does Foden!

McAtee was never anything remotely close to being a "scared little boy"

One bad half at Luton FFS, has established bollocks like this

Oh , I only said it coz you'd mentioned attacking from the left + we are in dire need of a left sided midfielder... I've never seen him play but he sounds exciting 😃

Alright overstated maybe but he was a shadow of the player he was at the end of the season. Luton made the kid, I actually think it was better than him playing ok in that game.
In my defence at my age they all look like boys even some of the older ones. When your children are older than 50% of the players you fall into that trap a bit.

Citeh will want him to go to a club that he gets plenty of games,we tick that box.

They might also want him to go to a team where he will get plenty of "front foot" football,we might not tick that box as we could be defending more that attacking.

Maybe he will go to Southampton or Leicester the two of them will surely be rampant in the Championship, where his attacking finesse will develop better.

Just have to wait and see,

I always thought mcatees strength was in transitioning defence to attack from the edge of his own area

Agree - pace and skill to break allows us to be a lot more dangerous than our occasionally ponderous build up. Particularly in games where we are going to be under the cosh.

i think we will get one of our 2 premier league loans from city pep likes our development of his players its 1 from 3 really walker doyle or palmer

I think they'll sell Doyle this time.
So it could still be Doyle and Palmer which would be fantastic business!
I still find the Walker link hard to comprehend.

city just might do us a good deal for doyle seems we have a good relationship with them maybe say 5m plus another 5m if we stay up dont think the kyle link is as unrealistic as some on here are suggesting but palmer would be a great loan signing for us

You have got to be the most optimistic Blade I know 😆
You don't get much for £5m nowadays, let alone a under 21s England starter from the best club side in world football. No matter how much they like us. Kyle has a year left on his contract as well, and thats before we try and convince him to take a £130k a week wage cut.
We've done a good job blooding their two youngsters though, to an extent I think he's going to give McAtee some minutes next season, so I can imagine the Palmer talk being quite realistic.
And for me that would be possibly the best loan we could hope for!

Thinking of today's interview with Hecky he does hint at a different player from City.
He also says he hasnt contacted them about Doyle or McAtee as well though which I find hard to believe.
They have been a bit busy playing matches !!

I think the only think that may be against us is that we're going to fighting for our lives next season, something that Citeh never are. They may want to see their youngsters playing for clubs who are invariably on top. So a top Championship side may suit better.

Fingers crossed not though. I think he'd be a better signing than Mcatee.

You wouldn't contact the player? His agent? Someone at the club? It could be the most important decision of our season. You don't have to phone Pep directly in the Champions League Final dressing room.
There's just no way he's not made contact in some form.
It's come out Palmer is available and McAtee might not be, so they are having squad conversations already just like us.

Hopefully we haven’t contacted the player directly !!! We have enough problems without creating more !

but where would palmer fit in to our system we dont do wingers unless hecky is planning a change in tactics you may be right on doyle so he has to be our loan signing from city with a view to permanent as for kyle yes it is a long shot but maybe not if these new investors come in

Palmer is no more a winger than McAtee or Foden are. These players are bred to be comfortable across the width of the pitch. A player of Palmer’s talent would fit our system if we are ready to apply the required tweak (as we did with McAtee). I dread the flat (footed) 3 Wilder adopted otherwise.

What is a winger? Usually they beat men and get crosses in? Berge isn't a winger but that's currently the best part of his game.
Most wingers would make good number 10s as well. McAtee could be a 10 or a winger really.

We'd still need a water carrier or a ball winner but Palmer and Berge in the centre would be incredible.

More importantly for Leicester is they are not limited to just one Man City loanee.

I don't think it'll stop us bringing one City loanee though.

Do you still pay 60p a litre for petrol, or is it just transfer fees where your understanding of what players cost is a quarter of a century out of date?

have to be a loan then sorry for upsetting you 😉

Two assists and a goal to send England U21's to the Euro Final. Never going to happen. If he goes anywhere it'll be Burnley obviously.

He looks pretty much a clone of mcatee too me. Quick, can receive and go past the opposition, Decently skillfull and a good finisher

I’d be delighted with either coming for a year
Hes ahead of McAtee in PL/European/Eng u21s appearances. Palmer will be a big player in the future and could be better than Foden.
