I must admit Snowman that I dont recall who the support happened to be. But Savoy Brown does ring a bell somewhere. My memory is of members of Jethro Tull all wearing the same white (flashers type) macs as the road crew and mingling with them as they were setting up on stage. And then suddenly divesting the macs and starting the concert. I do remember Ian Anderson being something to behold playing his flute standing on one leg. I know I went out and bought Thick as a Brick the next day. Still have it and play it often.

Yes, it was an interesting posture and I was held up to ridicule at school by calling Anderson Jethro Tull as opposed to the band Jethro Tull. I actually went to see Savoy Brown that night who had an album out and Train to Nowhere was on a sampler album I had from Decca.

I just hope you aren't the DJ from the Wap who was mega into Tull.

Could be worse, you could be one of those people who thinks Debbie Harry is Blondie... she... doesn't like that, let's put it that way.

Was trigger at the jethro tull thick as a brick concert at Sheffield city hall in 1969? If so I was also there.

No, it was Cambridge, near where I was brought up in Huntingdon.

This was the tour supported by Savoy Brown and Terry Reid.

And coincidentally, Huntingdon is where Terry Reid is from, good guitarist, great singing voice and the last time I saw him was at The Greystones about four years ago.

I'm a retired IFA and sold the business. If I cant plan nobody can. :)
Had a lot of luck in life as well. Right place right time etc.
Similar,

I was in banking for 30 years and a combination of luck and planning enabled me to spend my last 11 working years as a postie and then retire at 60 with a pay rise

Having retired this year, one of my farewell presents was a United home shirt, from last season unfortunately, but beggars can't be choosers. All my colleagues signed it, then I managed to get Joe Root's signature and finally all the United squad plus Chris Wilder. So, it then needed framing, so having phoned round Harrogate companies and getting quotes from £70 to £250, I obviously went for the £70 one. So off I trot this morning to a little framing place in a back street and gave this bloke my shirt. It will look something like that one on the wall he said, the only framed football shirt on display. Yes, it was a Blades shirt circa 2009, play off final. Not that I wanted to be reminded of that of course. It turns out the owner of the shop worked with one of United's back room staff who lived across the way and had donated the shirt. Small world eh?

Last years shirt !! The horrible bastards, either they didn't like you and/or glad to see the back of you, wouldn't have last years shirt thrown at me, you're well rid of them mate. Probably Leeds scum in Harrogate

Now that sounds good. Voyeurism an added bonus

I know and yes, it was a Leeds fan who made the decision. The only good thing about it, is because it's white, the signatures stand out.

I've had 15 years of making pension contributions now. I think with my basic contributions and additional voluntary contributions that I've made for quite a while, I should be able to retire and live very comfortably before the age of 60.

Since becoming debt free for the first time in 20 years a few months ago, I've also been throwing money in to an ISA and have got a nice little nest egg building up as a rainy day fund.

My plan is to retire early and have a lot of money put by in savings accounts to fund the things I want to do like watch Sheffield United through the winter, Yorkshire CCC through the summer, do an Test on an England cricket tour once a year and then be able to live comfortably on what I have left over
Thats exactly what I did Brownie and I'm enjoying retirement. However I took an early retirement package and had the benefit of a final pension salary (which I now draw. I'm looking forward to 66 in a few years time when I'll the get full state pension and have even more money to spend on pleasure and leisure.
