We all yearn for the days when our football club can develop it's own players and keep them. With a following wind and a bit of luck and Clough remaining with us, maybe we could be in a position to do just that in a few years time.

Hoping to keep Maguire at this point in time is unrealistic. We have to be fair to the lad and if he can earn £15k a week we cannot match those wages. You might say he would love to stay with us and might accept £9k p.week but it's pie in the sky. None of us know what the prince has to offer but the FFP Rules are a barrier for a while anyway.

Maybe we can sell Maguire for £2m. If so, we might be able to sign Coady and Brayford or players of that calibre. I rate Maguire highly and so does Clough, but I reckon we can get a couple of solid centre halves for this league for low wages. We can then sign influential game changers to add to those we already have.

Should he stay or should he go? (sentiment apart).

Given that option, flog him and get players of Coady/Brayford's calibre. 'arry's good, but no Kyle Walker/Naughton. Clayton Donaldson of Brentford absolutely skinned him a couple of seasons ago.

Trouble is, whatever fee we get will be 'undisclosed'.

I think there is a misconception about 'undisclosed'. Usually it means that there are a lot of clauses such as an extra ££ for promotion or a sell on clause.

In regards to the original point, you're also going to have to spend money on a new centre half too. I am not sure about anyone else but a defence led by Collins doesn't give me any confidence.

I also wouldn't swap Maguire for either of Coady or Brayford.

So Harry should go elsewhere if he can get £15,000 a week and get Brayford in who would be on????? Doesn't really fit in with our wages budget does it? However much the prince is going to invest, we still have to adhere to the rules. AND doesn't it create unrest in the dressing room if a couple of players are on silly money while the rest are taking pay cuts. It's not as easy as you make out.

Maguire is head and shoulders above anyone else in the squad and would be a far bigger loss than Brayford. If the fee wasn't above £2m I'd happily see his contract run out as it will aid our promotion push.

The other thing in our favour is Harry understands how development and patience builds valuable experience. As Cloughie says he's a home bird. He's surrounded by good advice (his dad for example).

I think he'll sign a 2 year extension and wait for his big move and salary at the end of that period.

Hard to believe but not everyone is mercenary and will think Wolverhampton is the promised land.

I just hope these (made up ? ) rumours of him staying with Macdonald in Wolverhampton are true. A couple of days in that shit hole will have him signing a contract at the Lane in no time.

Well Cloughy said he's currently on holiday and that's why no contract has been signed yet, and I'd imagine he's on good enough wages to afford a better holiday than Wolverhampton. Smells like BS

I hope your right mate for our sakes but its all good and well him staying and missing out on a big move with wages and other things that comes with it,but just say for instance, what would happen if he were to get a bad injury or something in them 2 years, touch wood he doesn't ,just say he does, the lad will miss out on a very large chunk of money just to stay with us,now all these sorts of things have to be took into account when the lad makes his decision.Like i said though, hope he stays for our sakes.

Even at the tender age of 21, he probably has more spare cash than most of us can dream of.

Holidaying in Wolverhampton - brilliant !

You have to plan your footballing future based on playing. Of course you can get a bad injury anywhere but I doubt very much whether he's signing a contract based on how much he can make if he's injured.

Oh goody.

Yet another thread where everyone gets their knickers in a twist about the likelihood of there being a possibility of a chance that Harry might one day be leaving. Maybe.

I think the trouble with us signing/keeping players at the moment,is that we are looking very likely to go up next season,(the way cloughies'doing at the mo,we've got to be very confident),so we're in a catch22 situation,do we risk losing Harry,or do we pay him championship wages now ?Can we bring in the quality players we need and offer them lge 1 wages ?All a very tricky balancing act,I think the Prince will release the cash when we get to the Championship(proper money I mean),in order to attain his goal of Prem football.
Same with Coady,a decent fee/wages would need to be paid, but are we/him confident enough to get into the Championship ?
All very tricky, and the Prince and Nige have to get it just right !
Me? I think they will......

It appears that 'Arry was actually at Matt Lowton's wedding today. Perhaps he'll sign on this upcoming week?
