I have it on good authority (which i have mentioned kinda before) that United are buying the Coach and Horses pub in Dronfield and ahve plans afoot to improve Sheffield FC's facitlities so that the Reserves can play there.

If we had any ambition we'd be buying a bigger and better pub ;)

I have heard we are buying premier Inns hotels so the players have somewhere to stay for away games and we will alway be a premier team then!!!!

Piggies are buying these 2 for all the pricks to go in...........

:D:D:D

If we go back through the posts a few months... i've posted about improving Sheffield FC facilities :) The buying the pub part I hadn't heard though.

Keef can pay all his wages directly back into the club if we buy the pub ;)

Confirmed the reserve games will be there..........

Sheffield FC's Dronfield base will host United's reserve team fixtures in the 2008-09 campaign.

For the past two seasons the Blades have played at Worksop Town's Sandy Lane ground but the club has made the decision to play closer to Sheffield to enable local supporters a better chance to see the second string in action.

Sheffield FC's Coach and Horses ground has been inspected and, subject to upgrading of floodlighting, has been given the go-ahead by the Central League (formerly the Pontin's League).

Football Club Chairman Terry Robinson commented: "I'm delighted that the reserves are returning closer to home and this move cements our relationship with Sheffield Club.

"It's a positive step and enables supporters easy access to watch all our up and coming talent. We hope that, in particular, parents will take the opportunity to take their youngsters to a friendly and open environment to introduce them to watching the Blades."

United's reserves narrowly missed out on reaching the end of season play-offs to determine the overall winner of the Pontin's League last season.

Are Worksop still locked out of Sandy Lane does anyone know?

last i heard yes. and that was tuesday.

I don't think we have any intention of buying the pub, seeing as Richard Timms(SFC chairman) just bought it in the last year as a source of income for the club and it is part of their future plans. All that is happening is that we are strenghtening our relationship with club, and playing our reserve games at their ground. Part of the deal is that we will sort their pitch out and relay it for free as there has been loads of games called off due to waterlogging this season, and if serious work isn't carried out then the reserves could face a long string of called off games next season in bad weather.
