C'mon somebody

Absolute top performance from him, he was like twinkle toes down the right hand side in the first half and put in a superb cross for Hendo, absolute cracking strike for the goal, it took a deflection but I think it was going in anyway.

Top performance from him, if he plays like that from now till the rest of the season we might not be able to reach his wage demands but someone else will.

There will be no shortage of suitors for Monty in the summer. Managers, coaches and players understand exactly what he brings to a team. Tonight was a bit of a one off for him, he doesn't need to score goals & put in MOM performances, if he did that every week he would have spent the last 10 years in the PL. But he is good enough as he normally is.

Listening in, even second hand, makes me happy as can be. Well done, lads, Monty and Cressie. Well done, all of yas!!!:beer:

I wonder much a player like Monty earns.

At his age & with his experience, I would say about £7-8k a week.

Up until this year, his next contract would have been the one that made him financially secure for life, but coming out of contract this summer has happened at the worst possible time for him & many other players. I don't think anybody outside the PL will be awarding big or long contracts this summer, and I think he will be playing for us next season, on reduced terms.

Its going to be a very interesting summer.....

I cant believe I was probably nearer the back of the BL end than Monty was to the goal when he scored all night and missed a cracking performance and a Monty screamer!

Monty was awesome tonight, my mate missed the first goal and when she came in, I jokingly said to her Monty would score tonight!!

Haven't celebrated a goal like that for a long time, I'm even more happy for him that he scored in front of the Kop.

Watching Monty score, listening to The Drifters rehearse, and having a conversation with one of the Three Degrees whilst she takes a dump, all in the space of 4 days - I'll take that!!;):D:thumbup:
So you shared two precious moments?

Monty was my MotM too.

Quality retort!

The "Degree Dump" has trumped anything that has happened in recent times at The Lane. It was an uncomfortably lengthy but very nice conversation, and I feel traumatised and charmed in equal measure.

Pinchy, we differ in our opinion of Monty, but I am realistic enough to know that he will be back to Normal Monty on Saturday, with all the flaws and without any sign of flair. So yes, I do love him and think he is a great player at this level, but I'm not getting carried away & thinking that he will maintain tonight's standard. He won't.

£7-8k a week - that's a million quid over three years.

I don't know how he manages to survive in today's harsh economic climate.

What a strike, albeit with a slight deflection on the way through

I'm not going to take the gloss off it though. Went crackers like the rest of Bramall Lane when he scored that. Got to be the goal ive most enjoyed this season!

He deserved his goal based on the performance. It was one of his best games for United and he was the best player on the pitch by a country mile. All you knockers are bound to come out and say "it's one game, it's one performance." What you don't see is his application and breaking up of the oppo play that most of us see from him every time he plays.

He's not going to do what he did last night, every week..........but it's nice on the odd occasion when he does! :D

GO MONTY! (and sign a new contract pronto)

Chuffin heck! Although I’ve been threatening it for the last half dozen games, last night I never made it to the Lane, opting instead to stay in the pub to imbibe more of the cracking ale on offer (Thornbridge Raven 6.6% for the connoisseurs on here). I do, however, feel like I’ve missed out on seeing the second coming and winning the lottery at the same time. I also feel somewhat ashamed and slightly grubby by my actions.

Still, that ale though…… :drunk:

Gutted I missed it, would of been bouncing down those steps from the back of the kop.

Why is nothing up on Blades Player yet, its usually sorted the day after for week games.

The reason it's not on Blades player yet is that the software used can't compute that Monty scored. Once everything's been reprogrammed it'll be up there:)
