Opening a can of worms if they are just using the seat numbers, without getting ID of the person themselves. I don't think I've sat in my designated seat once this season.

This bloke is saying it's not even his designated seat

If it's the Family area, then fair enough....any other part of the ground, then I can't see the problem. PC gone mad!
I agree. If you are offended by bad/offensive language is watching a football match (not sat in the designated family stand) really a good idea?

I've been told "language!" in the South Stand before (not in my usual seat) for telling the referee to "piss off" after a shocking decision. I thought that was fairly mild. There are a lot of old boys in the South Stand who come from the flatcap and rattles era who would never dream of sitting in the family stand... but want the same rules to be applied.

My opinion is that it's fair enough in the family stand... but a bit daft anywhere else.

They ought to come and sit with me and listen to Clough, Morgs and Garner if they want to learn some new words :D

or better still come to this forum.

shitwasp and shitterwasp - gavtheblade
bongo surfing - Highbury_Blade

they're just two fine examples, the second one isn't even sweary, but a fun term for the reason for the internet

I don't mind some of the colourful language in the SS, I do object to constant really bad swearing shouted throughout the match when there are small kids around.

We all swear, but not in front of certain people. You can't expect everyone to take their kids in the JSS to avoid swearing, it's just as bad over there.

I don't know if the lady I am talking of is a member on this site, but I sat Infront of her in the Forest game. She was a disgrace from the start of the match till the end, now fair enough sitting on the kop you expect bad language but calling your own fans c**ts and telling them to F off is a disgrace. Forest scored the first goal 2 people stood up to go to the toilet, she claimed they was forest fans and shouted 'Iv seen you sc*bby c**ts'. Later in the game she told a fan to f*ck off who slagged off Flynn, about 5minutes after she shouted to sub Baxter because he's f*cking useless. The women is deluded, and with a child the age of 7 sat directly in front of her she should have been aware and kept her language down. Personally I don't care I'm not somebody to turn around and have ago or complain to the club about an individual, but if she goes off like that every game she needs telling. Thank god I don't sit near her regularly and if I ever get offered a free ticket on the kop I will be checking where I will be sat.

Yes chaps, if you could perhaps act with some decorum please. You never know who is reading this section...

At the Gillingham game, there was a bloke sat near me who, after the linesman had flagged for something against us, opined he should "stick his flag up his arse".

After that, whenever that linesman put his flag up for anything the bloke would suggest that the flag should go up the arse.

Projection perhaps?

We had a couple of more elderly gents turn up about 15 mins into the game last Saturday. They have never sat there before and the usual incumbents were not there. Within 5 mins I had to ask them to stop using the 'F' word as my 7 year old nephew was sat next to me and behind them. In all fairness they did stop but I had to then put up with one of them staring at me and the other telling me he had watched United for over 40 years and he had never got into any arguments or upset anyone ever. I can safely say that I've never seen or heard a steward speak to any fans in the family stand about bad language and I don't think I ever will.

if any ones offended they should piss off to the family section of the forum ;)

Personally I have no problem with swearing at the footy at all, when I used to go when I was a kid on the kop and the South Stand my dad made it perfectly clear that there would be big trouble if I repeated anything Id heard there to my mum or anyone else but at the footy anything goes. Your never going to avoid swearing at the footy anyway, what do these easily offended types tell their little cherubs we're singing "You'll never be mastered by those Wednesday Bastards!"

Also they must be naive to think their kids dont hear swearing on a daily basis too either on telly or in the playground, they should just educate their sprogs to not swear rather than pretend it doesnt exist

I take my Seven year old on the Kop and I have told him not to repeat any of the bad language especially not to tell his mum.

I've taken my daughter on the Kop for the odd match since she was about five or six. I told her that she'd hear some naughty words, and not to repeat them to her mum, especially if it was me saying them, or indeed shouting them loudly and frequently. :D

On the subject of people in general hearing bad language, how do they go on with the songs that contain swearing? Or is that okay when it's a song sung by many but not spoken or shouted by an individual? It might be that those on John Street can't hear the songs that come from the Kop.....

The latest favourite song is Shoreham boys with the main focus being sex with girls from other towns and consuming alcohol. Both activities being illegal for persons under 16 and 18 respectively.

One suspects that the young gentlemen singing these songs may have rather limited experience of both intimacy with ladies that don't wear mostly cheap polyester sportswear and consumption of alcohol in places other than parks and bus shelters.

We all had to start somewhere , SV , and it's done no harm to me or my 15 kids , or the child support the various mothers get . ;) .

I note they do actually use the term women rather than girls thus indicating a person of legal age to do both.

Or do you mean the Shoreham Boys aren't old enough?

:D

I don't like the song actually and the line with the sex and alcohol references always seem mumbled anyway as if the people singing are embarrassed.
