Further to a thread I started earlier, I believe that if we win on Sunday, it will be a new club record for succesive wins in league and cup.
We have won 8 league games on the trot on 5 previous occasions: 1892--93, 1903-04, 1957-58, 1960-61 and 2005-06. However in 1892-93, 1957-58 and 1960-61 there was a cup defeat in amongst them.
No cup game were played in the 03-04 run.
As previously mentioned, the 05-06 run had 2 league cup games in the midst of them - one, a win over Boston, and the second a "victory" on pens over Shrewsbury.
I know some people count wins on pens as victories for the purpose of this sort of thing, and if so that would make 10 victories on the trot in league and cup in 05-06 as the record.
However, I don't, so I reckon a win on Sunday will be a new club record of 9 wins on the trot in league and cup.
