I only know one way. Pass the ball.
Although pinchy likes this
I'm a supporter of proper football. Why do you dislike attractive, skilful football do much? Is it just that you prefer the ugly things in life?

Pinter rather than Shakespeare? Hirst, not Da Vinci? Offal in preference to ambrosia?

It's rather sad, really.
It is amazing how you claim to see things simple that others do not then you come out with that snobbish attitude again asking the question of others "why do they not like blah blah blah" as if it some kind of defence of your position.
simple really YOU ARE NOT THE FOREMOST AUTHORITY ON HOW FOOTBALL SHOULD BE PLAYED. GET OVER YOURSELF AND DON'T TRY TO CLAIM THAT EVERYONE WHO ARGUES AGAINST YOUR POINT LIKES SOME VERSION OF WHAT YOU CALL HOOFBALL.

I want Sheffield United to win. That's it. I couldn't care less how they do it.

That's the whole point. History shows conclusively that passing football is the way to win games. It's so self-evident as to make any further debate (it doesn't occur outside S2) entirely pointless.

Pass and Move wins games. We want our club to win games, therefore.........

You mean like under Weir?

You mean like under Weir?

No, like all the teams who win football matches, leagues and trophies and have done down the years.

I fear you may be obsessed with David Weir. It's unhealthy. Try to move on.

Unless all our goals scored through history have been straight from the kick-off then surely many of them have been from pass and move. After all, even a speculative punt to a player legging it to the penalty area more in hope than judgement that results in a goal is pass and move, isn't it? ;) A long pass and a running move?

Or do you just mean short sideways passes, supervised by a statue in the technical area?

Pinchy has been exposed because he does not know anything about what to do when the opposition has the ball.

If you keep the ball for long periods the opposition will have forgotten what to do with it! When they do get it, press them hard as an organised team unit, suffocate their space. They'll soon misplace a pass. Funnily enough, the best footballing teams, Bayern and Barca are also the ones who regain possession quicker and more often.

Is there a manager on earth that tells his players not to regain possession as soon as they can?

Fuck me, for an intelligent bloke you really are a bit daft. You'll be telling is next that the best teams also score more than the opposition.

The best teams, first and foremost, have the best players. It's THAT opens up methods of football not always appropriate to, for example, the dross that your man Weir brought in.

You really do have the cart before the horse.

Sheffield United 6 Tottenham Hotspur 0 struck me as being proper football. Can't see that happening again for a while. But then again, in your world you probably deny that it ever happened at all. After all, it couldn't have done could it, not with Dave Bassett in charge. I mean, Tottenham play proper football, don't they and couldn't possibly be trounced by the likes of us.

Brilliant Arse ne.

4-5-1/ 4-3-3 are theoretically much more dynamic formations. 4-4-2 can be quite rigid but it has worked for years in British football. We play with two strikers.

But no formation can work if the players and the balls they play are useless

I particularly like your use of the available space.

To drag this back on topic, I doubt any players or management go on these sites. Can you imagine the headfuck? If I was a pro football player I wouldn't even have Facebook/Twitter.

I shall do if my team win today. Is yours playing in Graves Park tomorrow morning?

Why do you not like the players to pass the ball to each other? You know, play football. Do you have an inferiority complex?
Fantasy dribbling again.
