Clough: We're a work in progress - not a failure without promotion

If we do lose then the blame lays fairly and squarely on the management and players !
I am only blaming the fans for their lack of support when it is most needed !
I have often blamed the players for lack of heart and no balls - could be applied to many of our so called fans !
One game that we need to start well an early goal and we'll be on fire.
The fans will be up for it from the start but we not just the players need an early goal to settle us
If we've gave a good go that all you can ask.
At our best we can do it.

He had to sell maguire and most of the significant funds as you put it were only made available following 2 years of cup runs. I haven't accepted mediocrity, I have merely accepted that to build a good long term future for our club then it may take time

Clough is a good manager and has had immediate pressure since he got the post . He is having to manage the expectations of the board and fans , with little time to establish himself . Is he adaptable enough to cope with the changes that have happened at the club , i don't know.

The ones who matter are the players , and we judge them because they do there job in the public eye. Its the players i believe who have let us all down , including Clough . The play offs is a chance for them to redeem themselves . If we get a poor performance tonight , then the players have to take the blame , unless Clough gets the tactics all wrong , which IMO he wont.

We are building a infrastructure to the club , but in football , like life , time and tied , waits for no man. Just because Bristol and Bournemouth have done wonders this year , it has no bearing to the turmoil , behind the scenes Clough has to sort out.

We are going in the right direction off the field , we have the play offs to show we are doing it and in the right direction on the field .

Media interviews in football are mostly a waste of time, much like political interviews. Media training has taught most people to avoid answering questions and dropping themselves in the proverbial. Never tell the truth, heaven forbid. I don't blame Clough for covering himself in the case of failure, no doubt he will have been talking to the board about a long term rebuild ever since they first approached him, he'd be daft not to buy himself time. Any short term success is then an absolute bonus down to him of course.

The real issue here is whether Clough BELIEVES we can win promotion this time. Also do the players BELIEVE?

My guess is that Clough and his players don't have a clue whether we are good enough to win the play-offs, they hope we are but I doubt whether there is any real confidence after a poor season which has affected everybody's confidence - fans, players, management and Board alike. Nobody has a clue how United will play tonight and the surprise will be if we play well and score more than the odd goal.

Looking at the other three clubs involved I reckon each has an equal chance, so it is a lottery.

We all have our own views about the progress made in the rebuild. Now is not the time for an appraisal or inquest if you like. I don't think for one minute that Clough really BELIEVES we haven't failed badly if we don't get promotion this season.

So called fans .................. Goo-on Fiery say it you know you want to ............................. anyone who doesn't clap is a pig and should go to the sty .................. goo-on Fiery say it ;)

is the players and manager

Yep, poor Fiery,
So blinded he is, and so dismissive of anyone that has a bad word to say about United that he cant see the most negative thing about this club is the players and manager. Not the fans.
It seems that negativity can ooze out of every pore of the club but as long as the fans stand about clapping and banging the tarpaulin bit at the back of the kop everything will be fantastic

Not at all. Abuse, cynicism and incessant moaning is the way to go.

It's the Blades[fans]' Way.

I have no doubt that the vast majority of the so called whingers that come on here Fiery, get behind the team come match day, but, if it makes you feel better to think otherwise. I believe that everyone who posts on this board wants to see us succeed.

Really? Why then, do the vast majority of our games proceed in an embarrassing silence from 90% of the crowd, punctuated only by moans, boos and no shortage of vile, vein-throbbing, eyes-popping abuse hurled at players and management alike.

I haven't the slightest doubt that they don't get behind the team at all. I've seen and heard their type for over 50 years and all over the land. Some of the most loathsome fans imaginable follow our team.

It's the Blades[fans]' Way.

This is a my motivational words to the team for tonight.

Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough.

I want to avoid asking this today, but can't resist. How are we going in the right direction?

For me, we've stagnated. We would have been in the playoffs 4 out of 4 L1 seasons if it hadn't been for Weir's disasterous tenancy. Incredibly unlucky not to go up first time of asking, but not really pulled up many trees since then, for a club our size in this league. Given the increased funding of this season, it's been wholly disappointing.

Alco , i will let you know after tonight . Its either :) or :( . Right direction off the pitch with good control of the club . Lets see what we do tonight , with good control on the pitch , ( which is what counts , as we are a football club ) .
