Clough On Transfers....

Although i understand it's better for both the player and club if they aren't featuring to be loaned out to get some football. What concerns me however is that in the case of both Brandy and Cuvelier, they were just unused substitutes, it wasn't as though they weren't in the squad. If NC doesn't bring at least 1 or 2 in, imo we are seriously short on depth.

Given that we are in a relegation scrap, who would you rather have fighting for you, players who are contracted to you and playing for their futures, or a couple of loanees, probably from clubs in higher leagues who know that no matter what happens they aren't going to be around to clear up the shit afterwards...

We are but would you want to give Nosworthy ten grand a week? No thought not. Clough has said he is looking for players to improve the team that may take a bit of time.

Not sure why you have brought Nosworthy to the party, however since Nigel said he had a large list going into the January transfer window, we have failed to bring in any players to improve our 11. You can bury your head in the sand but sometimes you just have to pay a little extra to get players we need now. We need a minimum of 3 players to improve our starting 11 now and not on the 31st January.

Players like Cuvellier and Brandy who will go on to improve teams that are above us in the league whilst whilst we mess about.

Considering we have 3 home games in 10 days and a squad of 11, I have to say the 3rd against Peterborough will probably be a step too far for our superstars

Nail on the head pal. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing yesterday when he said that there’s no point them being sat on the bench. Erm, Nigel that’s what substitutes do, they’re also allowed to be brought on before 80 minutes as well but that’s a different story. We’ve got rid of the back up and are now scrambling around to sign some replacement back up. Unbelievable.

By signing Paynter we have improved our Forward line. They could have done that by signing me too, but that's another story.

We don't need no stinkin' substitutes. It's not as if we're going to get anybody injured or suspended or anything.

I think that's the point.
We've got rid of the back up because Clough didn't sign them and doesn't rate them.
(Weir did sign them and he didn't play most of them either!).

Clough is now planning to sign 3 more players to go straight in the first team
The current first-teamers will then be the back up and that's the only way we'll improve.

I think the plan is sound but it remains to be seen how the plan is executed and who we sign.
The January Transfer Window is a bit of a red-herring anyway as we can still sign loan players after then.
No need to worry about the 90 day rule this season as we won't need loan players to be available for the Play-Off Final.

Just watched the clough interview on transfers and got to say like what I hear. The fact he wants to take players on lone first to see if they fit in is a great at least if they don't they can go back to where they come from if they don't. But i also think it can work the other way as it has done in the past when weve had players on lone or short term deals they've been great but then soon as they've got that full time contract performances go down hill. Just hope he's got some good players on the radar UTB

for all the abuse pinchy got for repetition ,you are even worse.

Maybe, but unlike repeating the fact that, in your case for example, Stephen Quinn wasn't good enough before he went on to far better things, I actually have a valid point.

It's a fine line between scapegoats and basic lack of talent, it seems.

Lack of talent is what got us in this league in the first place and we are still relying on some of those players to get us out of this league.

Thanks for the loan of Flo, good reports from Stoke & Walsall fans on him. Looked very good against us in the cup last season & scored too. Surprised you didn't give him more time really? Oh well, we're happy this end anyway, cheers. :)

That's it, I've had with Clough now, here's our new centre forward
