It was a question in a sports quiz I did. Didn't know the answer, but it stuck in my head when we were told the answers.

I went to see them play a couple of years ago.
An American supplier took me and the Mrs to the game with his son.
He insisted on some grub before, so we missed the first two innings, by which point they were 2 down.
After going further behind, they pulled it back to within one with 2 innings to go, at which point the bloke that took us said, "Well we're going to get going now"
WHAT?!! What is the point in going to a game for about 2 thirds of it?
There was little to no atmosphere, except when the 'kiss-cam' came on the screen, or they fired T-shirts into the crowd.
They actually went on to win the game, with the stadium half empty.....weird.

Baseball seems to be a really shit game for all the reasons you state in your post. Similar to my experience in Baltimore in the 1990's except we stayed to the end. Trust me, you didn't miss much.

However, just suppose taking an American to a cricket match. Say day 2 of Somerset v Derbyshire in mid June.

How fucking weird would they find that
