Foreign loan till end of the season if we're still fighting? PL experience, 6ft4, CB for Egan/Basham and offer a percentage of his wages.

If he wants to leave Roma and they want rid then surely they'll take any wage cut till the summer. Then again it depends on how much PA wants to stay in the PL...

(Obviously his full wage will be big)
 
Hopefully he’d be better than the last player we signed from the giallorossi… 😱
 
I'm not really in the obsession camp of under 23 players only.. Larouci, Slimane and Traore are absolutely miles off if that's the recruitment we only should be doing.
 
I suspect he'll have his sights set on better sides than Utd. Roma has been a great move for him - he was in danger of becoming another Man Utd defender they all loved to hate and undervalued - see Phil Jones and Maguire
 
Just read an article on BBC Sport about him. He's a free agent moved back to the North West and looking for a club in England. He 36 now, but could be a decent and cheapish back up or alternative to Souttar as the dominant centre back? Could Phil Jones put a word in... We've had Craig Short, Ugo Ehiogu and Phil Jagielka at similar ages, who added valuable experience and leadership that maybe Smalling could.

I said something along the lines of with us getting Phil jones would we be able to get Smalling as a backup option or something like that, Can’t remember what thread but honestly I think he’d still do a job in the championship, He’s working with his mate from Man U too, Did excellent at Roma from memory and made an effort with their fans by learning fluent italian and even having interviews in Italian too
 
Could be this season's Ben Mee...just hopefully with legs that work.
 
I think this would be an excellent signing. Would bring solid leadership to our defence, which we don't have. I don't know what his wage demands would be though?
 
What's his appearance and injury record like for the last 3 seasons.

Ever present in Saudi last year. Back in the north west now and looking for a club. Assuming he's in reasonable nick and doesnt want paying the earth this is a good suggestion.

Was an interesting article. Also spoke about his work within education for after he finishes playing and they mentioned when he went out to Saudi, he was responsible for improving the gym facilities!?

So his fitness levels will be good, I don't have a problem with this if we get to the stage where we need cover. As he's as good a option as any .
 
I've said this before I often watch balkans league football apart from the odd winger or number 10 , there's a good number of athletic, competent centre halves.
I honestly get why Italian club’s sign players from here.

Think this has ruled him out then.
 
We don't really want 36 year olds. But we are running out of time in the window YET AGAIN (almost a month in fairness, but season starting Saturday). I'm sure he'd do a very good job for us in the Championship. Would certainly expect him to win headers, lead and bring experience.

Yes but could he learn fluent Sheffield?
 
If he's talking about his post football career already, it might be more Salfird or Rochdale he's looking at
