Sorry, just seen that Roy's done a similar thread. Just posted after listening to the interview without checking first.

Cracking interview. Got stuck into the players afterwards.

Feeling queasy personally about the Hanson bid. And a little harsh on McNulty (given he's had about 1/100th of the chances that a certain other forward player has had). But much that needed saying said by Wilder here.

Fantastic. A manager who says it how it is. Great stuff. My only concern is that both Wilder and Knill together with the Board realise that at the next level we must seriously invest, probably just to stay in the Chumpionship (sic).

Wilder no doubt can motivate his teams, but we will (if we don't already) need some quality so either we unearth some gems in the Academy and keep them or else we need to buy. Only hope Wilder knows quality when he sees it.

This is why I love Chris Wilder. Tells it as it is. No bullshit. No excuses. No talk of opposition making it difficult with gamesmanship. No criticizing the referee. Concentrates on his area of influence.

As far as Hansen is concerned, Wilder and Knill know far more about football than I ever will, so if he's good enough for them he's good enough for me.

The bit about "we're not in the market for £1m players" was interesting. Followed by "that's not putting pressure on the board". Clearly a response to some of the names that have been bandied about - Bogle, Gregory, etc. But maybe also a public appeal to the board?

Oh for a Board that gives a xxxx. With our crowds we shouldn't be messing around with the cheap option.

Total respect CW, we've been fed bulls it after apathetic performances by previous managers, your interviews are frank, honest and full of passion cannot ask for anything else.See where your coming from re Hanson, but don't agree.

I didn't see big time attitude if i'm honest, just crap defending from the same back 3 for the third game running, hope CW has noted this above the generalisation view.

Totally. At the risk of upsetting some folk, I only hope Chris' interview is a smoke screen. Yes we lack a clinical striker, but on the evidence of the last couple of games, we also lack defensive organisation.

Bit unfair on Lavery Chris, alright didn,t score but set up our first with a peach of a ball to Billy. Defence cost us the game today, not the forwards.
agree.. can't expect the forwards to score 3 goals every game to bail out the defence
we look much more solid when wright plays IMO .. what happened to moore?? looks more like bunn every game

Carruthers is a quality signing but if the board aren't willing to spend decent money given the position we're in that's very disappointing.

We finally have a genuinely good manager who's proven he can be trusted with money yet funds are held back when Clough was allowed to spend £2m+ when we were 20 points off the top after filling the squad with shite... it doesn't make any sense at all.

One top signing would get us up now. I really would've thought we'd consider making one.

Although it would be nice to spend 1m on a player, without stating the obvious we don't need to be in for 1m playere, we are top of the league competing with teams like Scunny and Bolton who definitely aren't in for 1m players.

We need Wright back in the team, another centre half and a winger. None of these need to cost a million. I'd love a top class striker but that's gonna have to wait for the summer I suspect

Great interview. The "big time" comment stands out. I did worry about over confidence after the Southend game after hearing a few players saying we were going to smash the league. Hopefully the last two terrible results have been a wake up call
Oh god. What did you hear?

It's so fucking disheartening. A manager we ALL believe in and still no sign of real investment. He deserves backing to the hilt.

They're currently proving what a bang average team we have.
Believing their own publicity shows how poor they are.

He seems to overly criticise the strikers for me. With arguably better refereeing, we could have had four, and that's not counting the excellent saves the keeper made. Two goals at home should be enough to win a game for a team top of the league, and i think his criticisms were the wrong way around.

In fairness to Chris Wilder, his patience seems to have been stretched beyond it's limit, especially with the strikers.

We've played 2 up top all season and the forwards have scored 22 goals so far this season. sharp has scored 17 of them in 27/28 games

the rest have scored 5 in 28/29 between them. Wilder has finally called them out - Done Clarke and Lavery (poor old Sparky just got wrapped up in it, but I wonder if that speaks vilumes about Wilder's view of him). Expect someone in

Yeah, the comment about a £1m player, I'd think, is specifically about Lee Gregory. Thing is I doubt money like that'd be made available even if we do go up.

But maybe there is some sort of subliminal message from Wilder to the board about ensuring more money for a final push this season (not £1m for a single player) - who knows? Probably more likely just a reminder that it's the board who set the financial parameters, not him.

Hope he's not being bounced into the Hanson signing in any way - we've been linked with him on & off for years, long before CW arrived, after all.

We must be in for someone as well as Hanson then, because he's hardly Mr Prolific.

Generally agree with Chris Wilder, but why the fuck did he bring Mcnulty back from Bradford he's just not good enough, Scougil , weak and lightweight . Both substations did help

Nick Blackman isn't exactly prolific in the championship either. Hanson might hit it off in this side though. We certainly create plenty of chances

Maybe he should also look at the team he picked. That back 3 leaks goals and was even more exposed today with Done on the left. He got that wrong IMHO. Two goals should have been enough to beat them today.

Completely agree. The farce today is at Wilder's door as far as I'm concerned.

To pick the same team that was tanned 4-1 last week, is the first time that Wilder has given me cause to worry. It smacked of him almost trying to justify what was plainly the wrong selection at Walsall; almost trying to prove that there was nothing wrong with his selection last week and support his assertion that 'a bad 15 minutes cost us that game'.

Instead of learning the lesson of the Walsall game, making the obvious change to bring Wright in, and moving on, he seems to have been hell bent on showing today that we can win with that side, and in the process, he's thrown 2 points away.

It is unfair to ask Done to play left wing-back (something that he criticised Adkins for doing) and the lack of leadership and know-how in the back 3 when Wright doesn't play, is glaring. Asking EEL to do the central role is damaging his game; his form is going backwards. And for all his effort, Basham is a jack of some trades but master of none. Wilder has got so much right this season but he has got this badly wrong.

I don't know whether he is too close to see the obvious tweak that I thought he was bound to make today, but at the rate that we are shipping goals it will all unravel very quickly. He said himself that Gillingham only put the ball in our box twice and got 2 goals. That shouldn't happen.

God knows what will happen when we play some stronger teams, starting on Tuesday, if he doesn't revert to picking the back 3 that hasn't yet been on the losing side.
