I heard about this on the radio the other day and have just found the link it may be a bit tricky for me to get over for it, but there may be a few local Blades who are interested. The Five Live Octoberfest is being held in Sheffield and Fighting Talk will be live from the Crucible that weekend too.

*Cough*and the Mr Bloom one*cough*

Not that I'm too familiar with such things, but I'm sure I read something about Mr Bloom being rather a favourite with the stay-at-home Mums...

BBC Radio 5 live and BBC Radio Sheffield need your help as they attempt to break the Guinness World Records title for the ‘Most players to play in a continuous 5-a-side football exhibition match’, while raising some money for BBC Children In Need.

The 5-live-a-side challenge will take place from 2pm Friday 12 October to 2pm Saturday 13 October at The Sheffield United Academy, Fishill Crescent (just off Shirecliffe Road) in Sheffield.

Each player taking part in 5-live-a-side will play for a minimum of 10 minutes and may get the chance to show off their skills against BBC presenters, celebrities and former football pros. The game will run for a continuous 24 hours under the watchful eye of an official Guinness World Records Adjudicator, and to encourage some friendly competition there will be a final score.

5 live presenters Colin Murray for Fighting Talk and Robbie Savage for 606 will be on-hand on Saturday to play in the final stint of the – hopefully - successful record attempt, before celebrating the ambitious task with a special one-off match between hand-picked Fighting Talk and 606 squads.

So do you want to be part of the team? It doesn’t matter how good you are - all you have to do is sign-up below to be in with a chance of being in the squad.

Please note that places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis. If you’re successful you’ll be invited to make a voluntary donation to BBC Children in Need.

Full terms and conditions are available here.

So if you’re 18 or over and up for some footy fun for BBC Children In Need, then register your interest now at bbc.co.uk/5live/5liveaside.

Got my invite through yesterday, think I'm down to play between 6pm and 7pm on the Friday

I registered for this last week, really looking forward to it :)

They've asked our sports officer to find some referees too... but because the FA is not officially recognising it, no "sanctioned FA referees" can take part.

If I put down to referee can I give Lily Savage a red card

Me & Mousey are playing in the 5-a-side during the early hours of saturday morning and I know DazBlade88 is playing at some stage tomorrow too.

I am playing in the 11.00 to 12.00 slot tomorrow morning. It did say any standard was welcome, hence I will be lowering those standards.

I've just got my stuff ready to do the midnight hour. Only heard about it this morning, so registered through Seth on Twitter.

Looking forward to it

We'll see you up there, I'm knackered before I've even set off :)

Well done to everyone who took part my housemate did a 24 hr futsal challenge for charity last year came home too knackered to celebrate his birthday

I got about half an hour, scored 2 and got a stint in the net where I didn't concede a goal!

It was enjoyable, but it was a shame that alot didn't turn up in my timeslot so it was a bit of a struggle for them to get players. Think the accident on the M1 may have been a factor though :(

Well my side Team Fighting Talk won 302 - 275 and we're officially World Record holders with 464 players taking part.

Dedication is what you need if your gonna be a record breaker

On the same team Foxy, I managed to score 2 of the total and a clean sheet during a stint in the sticks. Was a good crack and was there for the last two hours so met some celebs along the way.
