Chelsea name their price for Blackman

This will always be an issue to contend with if and when we do get a bigger financial backing. Unless you have the finances for a complete rebuild, how do you incorporate higher earning players that you will need take it to the next level, without upsetting the balance of the existing squad?

That's an issue for the club to deal with. All clubs have a huge disparity between highest and lowest earners for the simple reason some players are a lot better than others. What makes us so special? If you apply equality in football you get mediocrity.

Much as I would love this to happen, there are certain figures being handed about which make it very unlikely unless one of those free spending billionaires rocks up desperate to lose £100m of their hard earned dosh.

Firstly, Blackman recently signed a new contract with Chelsea. None of us know the value of that contract to Blackman, with guesstimated figures north of 20k a week being suggested.

Secondly, Blackman has had a good season so far in the championship, he has achieved what Chelsea were hoping when they loaned him as his value in the transfer market has rocketed as a result. There are plenty of clubs out there who will be looking at him, and so this pushes the fee up well beyond the other guesstimated transfer fee of £2.5m.

Finally, the lad is from down south, and although we have seen this mentioned a lot over the years it is still a factor for players to consider. Obviously we have a small advantage as he has experience of our club, but the draw of staying close to family and friends long term is huge when faced with several options.

So, in a nutshell, we would need to be prepared to dedicate roughly £7-10m pounds(depending on guesstimate) to this transfer in fees and salary over a three year deal. And yes, although it’s a risk that’s balanced with the prospect of his value going beyond that amount within that time frame it’s still more money than this club will be able to afford in its current state.

You could argue that it makes sense financially, but the likelihood is that Chelsea will insist on sell on fees or buy back clauses which will have an impact on any potential profit, to the point where break even may well be more likely. So the question then is whether a goalkeeper can have sufficient impact on the teams fortunes so that it can at least achieve promotion/success that will benefit the club financially.

Lots to ponder for a club trying to avoid high risk financial commitments.

A loan would suit everybody but we'd have to accept we wouldn't own a big asset who we'd likely make a profit on and we probably won't have him beyond next season.

From his point of view, he stays on his current Chelsea contract (at least) and carries on playing and developing at a club he's already familiar with.

From Chelsea's point of view, the same applies, and he gains further value, and will still have 2 years on his contract at the end of next season.

He would be worth a lot more if he hadn't deliberately put the ball at the QPR players feet for him to score and then pretended to be injured, fooling everyone except some experts on here.

I just spent 5 minutes trying to work out what that said (before you edited to add your rough translation). Small tip: Google translate is shite.
Anyway, I shall check with Woolworths, it's highly possible that they sell spare backsides.

Get rid of the existing squad?

Well yes, but that's why I said "Unless you have the finances for a complete rebuild,"

I'd say what has made this squad special is the way it's been put together, and the way it has bonded. That balance could be easily upset with the wrong type of players brought in. A problem that will have to be addressed though if we want to kick on to the next level.

Oi, leave the Star out of it !

Today I saw the very worst click-bait headline yet - in the Express online. I won't link to it. The headline suggested that Lewis Hamiltion had announced his retirement from F1. The article reported that David Coulthard had said Hamilton would retire in the event the pressure got too much for him.
If this trend continues the only reliable news source on the internet will be S24SU.

Hopefully we pursue this and sign him up. He’s got better and better with each game making some quality saves in recent games
