Is Ampadu left, right or both footed? I thought he was right but seen a couple of comments suggesting he could play LWB.

We've got Jack Robinson as cover for JOC so can only imagine this is extra cover for Egan and Bash (even though we've got Rodwell and Jags). Alternatively he plays as a DM, but we don't play with an orthodox DM as Ollie is more of a Quarterback/Playmaker so despite being pleased because he's obviously a quality player, I'm not sure where he fits in - unless CWAK has been working on another tweak?

Can we send him back in January?

He's taking up a loan signing and to what effect?

1. If you accept we are going down, then there is no value in further blooding other people's players. May as well further test our own.

2. If you don't accept we are finished quite now, then aside from calling the nurse, you'd have to agree a loan signing has to be someone we ordinarily can't afford and makes us better as did Henderson.

What does Ampadu add? Cover for Basham, who is always available? Cover for Egan who is always available?

He's no better than Norwood in midfield.

If you want to still not give up the ghost then you need a defender who is left footed who gets in the team without question and a midfielder who can dictate play.

With Fleck and Norwood so unreliable right now, if you could use a foreign loan too then you get 2 midfielders and 1 defender.

For the quality we require, Ampadu doesn't fulfill any of those roles.

I'd send him back definitely if we could. He is not going to be part of our future. I would not even take him in the Championship.

I'm just gutted the Brewster signing was not a loan now as looking a very expensive mistake.

I would not sign loan Prem players in January. Completely pointless.

We'd be better now signing some raw, hungry young players who we may be able to blood ready for next season. Ironically the type in Ramsdaje, Bogle, Brewster we signed when we needed experience/PL quality. Maybe worth spending a bit on a couple of Chsmp/League 1 talents but id want raw pace/physique as a pre requisite for any signings. The squad is pitifully slow and weak.

Personally I'd sit it out to the summer now.

The only way point of signjngs would be a bit if boost to morale really. Is Kozluk or Wally Downes available?

Or has Glynn Hodges still got that wand of a left foot?😉

Turns out that for all those Chelsea fan comments Ampadu is wank, weak in the tackle gives the ball away constantly and at any given time looks like he is ready to burst into tears. I don't know about him being the man for Chelsea next year I see him more like the man for QPR.

If this was the best you could expect out of him, I'd agree. But here is a very young kid trying to learn his trade in a team on a record-breaking bad run, so perhaps it isn't a great surprise that he all too often takes the easy option. He is by no means the only one however, but perhaps given that he's come from Chelsea the expectation is for more and I get that. What this maybe has shown is that he hasn't made the progression required to be a top six player but he's still only 20.

Technically, he is very good but he is still raw irrespective of his background and international experience. I don't doubt that he is hungry to succeed, and with a run of games in the same position I think there is enough there to persist with. Personally, if the deal is right I'd like us to take him full time and I think he'd blossom with us.

Actually I think you might have a point many have missed. The recent HRH interview and past CW interviews pretty sure they said they were looking into bringing in two loan signings in January.

Quick look at the PL website says

"Premier League clubs may not register more than two players on loan at any one time"

So that would mean......... he is either going back or we are buying him ?

Ampadu is a weird one as like you say his issue aren’t technical. Right now his problems seem to be between his ear not in terms of attitude but he isn’t thinking quickly enough with the ball to break the press and is getting seriously confused by opposition movement. The issue is that’s not what we need right now as we need someone to grab the game by the horns for us. We’re probably not doing him any favours either as when he does make a mistake he doesn’t have a senior player at the top of their game alongside him to cover for him.

Excellent point. Ampadu and Brewster have come from top quality teams, one on loan and the other with a buy back clause. They are obviously rated so you have to ask if it is all their fault that they look poor.....

100%
He,s championship level bring somebody else in and we go again

Kinda feel sorry for them, they both came hoping to enhance their career, mid table finish, maybe a push to Europe again....
Looking at what we did for Hendo, same with Berge

They end up in a shit show, not tasting victory and any raw enthusiasm is knocked out of them

Is it their fault?
Maybe they aren’t at the top of their individual game, but you can’t expect a raw talent to grab a team by the scruff of the neck in the prem and deliver

Brewster will probably benefit for a year in the championship and learn from it, Ampadu will go back to the attrition of Chelsea maybe to end up at QPR

Berge is the conundrum, he wouldn’t look out of place gliding around in a midfield like Arsenal or Southampton, and we would sit there wondering why he didn’t do that for us?!
Reality is he needs players around him with quality
Messi would struggle to turn games around for us given our current tactics

Both Ampadu and Berge are talented young footballers. Won’t do them any harm to learn the pain of losing games every week. Experience in football is not all about success, they need a dose of humility in their back pocket, just for the knowledge that it actually exists.
They will learn nothing by winning every week, except perhaps, true prima donna status.
