Sky Sports News are reporting Everton have accepted a £2 and a half million bid from Norwich for James Vaughan. Looks like one of our options for getting rid of him might be gone then.:(

One overpaid underperformer gone. Another fifteen good news days like this one and we'll be fine.

:)

Tony Mowbray is leading the £1.2million chase for Sheffield United striker Ched Evans.

Ipswich and Cardiff are also after the Welsh international, but Mowbray’s Middlesbrough are the favourites to land him.

The cash-strapped Blades are having to off-load their top earners following relegation from the Championship, and Evans is Bramall Lane’s best paid *player on £20,000-a-week.

He still has 13 months left on the three-year deal he signed when he joined United in a £3m switch from Manchester City in July 2009.

But the Blades want him off their wage bill, and Evans does not want to drop down into League One because he fears it will harm his international *prospects.

Boro boss Mowbray has targeted Evans, 22, as the hit-man he wants to replace £30,000-a-week flop Kris Boyd at the Riverside.

Scotland striker Boyd, 27, joined the Teessiders on a free from *Rangers 11 months ago, but was axed by Mowbray and then shunted out on loan to Nottingham Forest in the January transfer window.

He does not have a future at Boro, and Mowbray is keen to land Evans at a bargain price because he believes the bustling *Welshman will boost his side’s fire power in their bid promotion next season.

Hmm. Ched to 'Boro, because ex-Celtic manager doesn't want ex-Rangers striker. At least Ched will be a cheaper flop than Boyd. Incidentally, Wendy tried to sign Boyd a few years ago, but funnily enough the Rangers fan chose Rangers.

1.2 million for chud from boro
reportedly 1 mill from Wigan for Quinn
350k due from swans for britton

well thats 2.5 million to keep the bailiffs from taking Wilsons desk out of his office

Some nice pennies right there.

I have no worries about us replacing Ched. I could replace Ched.

I think Mcallister can replace Quinn because although he got player of the season I don't think he was that great until last 8ish games.

I'd use some of that money to get an out and out winger and a bruiser of a centre back.

Quinn wont be missed he has been rubbish for years, only looked ok last season because they was all rubbish.

Sad thing is:

No one we sell or release will be missed.
How easy to sum us up, it's got that bad.

It not even worthy of a discussion - to sell or not to sell?

Here's to better times, pity we have who we have in charge, please prove me wrong for once McC.

Given that Chedders ended the season with a nasty ankle injury, we'll do well to get a full fee up front for him, more likely to be appearance related I would have thought. If he goes to a Chumpionship team, it wouldn't surprise me if it's something like 500K up front, with appearance, goals and promotion clauses built in.

The £350k you mention for Britton, which was at one time £400k, is now £100k

If it is £100k, what a shocking deal we entered into. (again)

Letting him go for nothing was, on the face of it, madness because he was our best footballer by a country mile. Then stipulating a £100k on promotion clause would seem generous in the extreme.

But the explanation has to be that he was on a truly extraordinary salary. We looked like dropping, so we decided to let go of some financial ballast and hoof our way out of trouble. However, we reinvested it in the footballing might of Collins and Doyle, plus the wages of loan players like Marcus Bent.

The Leon Britton story beautifully encapsulates the recent managerial failings at SUFC. Financial stupidity. Lack of consistent strategy. Wild u-turns. Lack of trust in talent. And ultimately ignominious failure.

Reflect and learn, Birch and McCabe.

He will have been on a good wedge considering he came on a free.

I would guess that the terms of the contract will total £400k, probably £200k based on appearances, £100k for their promotion and £100k if he stays there for x years.

It's funny though that people are rejecting the apparent 'good' deal in favour of paper talk from Swansea which suggests an inferior deal. Neither source is more reliable than the other; they're just telling different sides of the story.

It was Adams decision to sell Britton because he wasn't going to fit in with his style of play. McCabe appointed Adams so I suppose he has a line of responsibility but it was the managers decision to sell him and bring in Doyle.

When Blackwell signed Britton i thought we might be looking to move in the right direction. Really we all knew the signing was like watching the film Police Academy when Hightower got into a tiny American car and had to rip the seat out. It was ok Workaround but never a good solution!

I'd tell Adams to reflect and learn too, but that seems rather academic now. :)

Trouble is, you can't take one player out of a passing team, put him in a non-passing team and expect it to work. it's basically what Pembo has said recently, there's no point in bringing through footballing players at youth level if the 1st team don't play the same way.

Britton was homesick too , his family missed south wales,,when home life isnt good it stops the enjoyment , some players can cope with what life throws at them and do a job , some cant .
Theres plenty of players that move clubs then dont perform, thats why you dont see many british players in europe , too many are home birds

Didn't he say at the Meet The Manager with Speed that he had a girlfriend in Wales who hadn't moved (yet) to Sheffield and maybe something about having a kid with someone else in London? There was something about having family commitments other than Wales of that I'm sure.

I think we let him go back to Swansea on basically the same terms he came, so we didn't lose on the deal. Whether he kept his signing on fee could be another matter, but I would guess the clause for promotion covered that!?
