Ched's injury

In normal circumstances I'd agree

However I've seen with my own eyes that for 6 months way back in 2012 he's the most impressive striker we've had since Brian Deane, never seen anyone be so head and shoulders above the standard of the league he was playing in (admittedly it was only league 1 though).

Also Wilder has an excellent record on signings.

Assume he saw Ched as a low cost calculated risk with the contract/ bonuses weighted in the clubs favour.

We aren't reliant on Ched and there's a low expectation, everything to gain and very little to lose.
In my book that's a shrewd gamble.

He scored a lot of goals in the third division after being garbage for two seasons in the league above. We've had strikers who've done more at a higher level since Deane than Evans.
Aside from arguments about the morality of signing him, it was always a risk financially and playing wise.
Maybe he'll come good but he won't be on peanuts and we did pay a reasonable fee for him.

Needs ankle surgery according to that bleacher report article :/

Not ideal

Just was about to post that until I saw this. So its confirmed then. Ched is going to be out - probably for months! I like Ched I really do. I admit I was excited when it came out that we were re-signing him. But would I have done it myself?! I very much doubt it. His fitness just isn't good enough.Right now it looks like a gamble that isn't going to pay off. Hope I'm wrong. I like Ched I think although he was stupid, he's been robbed of a very good career that now is struggling to get started again.

Bringing him back has .been a mistake. A gamble that has failed. He will never be anything like what he was. At least hes still earning with a great football club. So itd not all bad for him. Crap for us though

If you think all evidence should be allowed, you know little about the system. It was completely irrevelant to the case.

I'd happily let him get on with his life if he played for someone else. But he plays for my team and it affects me, so I posted on an opinion forum about it.
FFS let it go.

He got off because of evidence that should never have been allowed

Why do you say that? The judicial system of the country thinks it was relevant and granted an appeal based on it. The subsequent retrial didn't throw the evidence out and it meant that a jury unanimously changed the original decision.

Why should it not have been allowed?

It proved his innocence,

because he was proven innocent

Just to keep things factual he was not proven innocent. He was found not guilty.

I trust your intentions are good spirited.

But seriously. Engaging in this way simply allows it the fuel it craves.

Let it lie !!

It will burn out.

Anybody want to talk about Evan's conviction I will gladly explain to anybody where the fuck the system broke down in finding him guilty (points that somebody else highlighted on this board that convinced me) but it's not fucking football related so keep it in the off topic section.

It seems Appeal Court Judges saw things differently. At a guess, I'd expect them to know more about "the system" than you, even if you are a lawyer. You wanting it to be irrelevant is, well, irrelevant.

This.

It's been done to death.

He got off because of evidence that should never have been allowed and ruined a girl's life while cheating on his missus.

We can disagree on whether he should play for us, but I can't believe you use ratbag ironically. He's well below what we should expect from our players.
What evidence should have never been allowed, and who should have been the arbiter of this, if not the criminal justice system ? Also, are you not aware that the woman in question has never accused him of rape to this day ? His girlfriend`s father was the prime mover in the quest for a re-examination of the case, because he believed there had been a miscarriage of justice, and was subsequently proved correct. You seem to be mixing up your feelings of morality about the actions of some young people, with the objective considerations of the laws of the land.

It could be that the ankle injury was never completely sorted out, and it's been hampering him in every game he's played Books.

If that's the case and it is finally sorted he could still come good for us in the second half of the season. I'm not clutching at straws mate, just pointing out that the ankle seems to have been the main issue all along and that he's still young enough to fully recover to a decent level IF the Docs can finally get the ankle right. I think the hip injury might have been a smoke screen, but either way, it's not like he's a worn out crock, in fact his overall wear and tear levels should be that of a much younger player.

Spot on! He has clearly struggled on with this problem while desperately trying to make a positive impression. If the surgeon can sort the problem out we could have a very good striker for the second half of the season.

Not guilty = INNOCENT!!! job done.
Can we get back to football shit now then!?

Yeah but because he was once guilty that's all that matters blah blah blah

Ffs why don't people let it go? - the Law that we all abide to has.

Ched is innocent - find someone else to have a go at as it's getting well past it's sell by date!

Hey why not have a go at McCabe for selling off our crown jewels this transfer window - oh wait a minute

Try a little positiveness in your (footballing) life's.

Not Guilty does not equal Innocent in UK criminal law due to burden of proof. Even if you write it in capitals.

I'm happy justice prevailed at the second trial but it's important to be factual on such sensitive matters.

As for football, gutted his ankle seems to be fucked - he has shown in flashes he could still be a big asset. Really hope he comes on strong at the back end of the season.

I'm pro Ched FFS!!!!

Trial by national television , never seen owt like it before or since, and all while turning a blind eye to child prostitution what a country eh...

Said to my lad when we signed him we probably wouldn't see him play until late Oct/ Nov, was really supprized to see him on the bench as early.
I'm sure all will come good in time for him (well I hope so)

your now looking at Christmas at least. A waste of time and money.

It's not quite like that BB. The law is an ass an all that but "not guilty" means insufficient evidence. It doesn't mean innocence - not in English law. In Scotland they have a plea of "not proven" in addition to "not guilty". That means, "we think you did it but can't prove it".

I agree though. Let's get back to the footy!

I happily will him to fail. We should never have signed him - we should have got someone who was a better person and a better footballer.

By exactly setting the world alight is he.

How do you manage your stigmata pal.
You must be Jesus Fucking Christ to be so high and fucking mighty bullshit judgemental.

Should have signed a better person? Like that cunt Hammond?
He only arse raped the fucking club and every fan the bastard.

I'm not religious, but I dont think you have to be Jesus to not redirect your taxi, lie to get a keycard, burst into your mate's hotel room and have sex with a girl that doesn't remember it when you should be staying faithful to your missus. Nor do I think it high and mighty to expect the same of a highly paid professional athlete in the public eye.

But feel free to add more nonsensical, hyperbolic prose to the debate if you get time.
