I thought he was class yesterday. The applause he gave the kop, just after he won a corner , and when he was subbed, applauding the fans. I hope we see him for a few more seasons in a Blades shirt. I haven't got a clue if the fans support has any sway in if he stayed or went, I hope it does, but then again I'm of the old school of one man clubs, a bit of a romantic I guess. I'd hate to think he went down the Kenny route and f****d us off after the support he's received, but thats modern footballers for you. What ever, I think with the pressure he's been under he's been superb, and hopefull, like I said before, i hope this won't be the last we see of him in a blades shirt.

He did look genuinely touched and appreciative of the support the fans were giving him when he turned and applauded the Kop. Could go some way towards explaining his exuberant goal celebration. Fingers crossed he doesn't go down and stays with us for plenty of years to come.

Agree with this. He's having a 'Michael Brown season' and is probably the best player in this division, as he is so much more than a Goal Machine :D.

I was watching him and Cressie during the warm up, and both looked really up for it - smashing balls with speed and accuracy. Again I think we saw that, without Cressie, Ched has to shoulder far more than he should.

I'll stick by what I said a couple of weeks ago. We should have got in quick and offered him a 'loyalty contract' whereby, whatever happens, there will be a place for him. Whatever we paid for him (and nobody will ever know, with add-ons etc.) I'd say he's worth exactly £3m on his seasons form.

Would love to see him still with us in a fortnight let alone next year.

Funny how times change this time last year people wanted rid of him

It's alright talking about offering a new contract, but how many league one teams or championship for that matter can offer a multi million pound contract to their players?
Is he really going to accept a half your money offer, while his stock is so high?

If innocent, I really hope he stays. But he won't be cheap, we are skint and he won't be playing league one football next season.
I think the board will push the boat out and offer him a contract at the very limit of our wagebill but will it be enough?

Same here. I can't see him here next season no matter what.

It's been the biggest zero to hero transformation since Bob Booker.

I totally agree Bob, but the way he's been supported, does it mean anything to the player or is it all money? Im sure money talks, but a little part of me would like too think he'd take it all in to account when the contrcts offered.

While I'd love to think yes, but I think his agent will tell him differently.

i honestly think he'll stay. he still has plenty of years to get a move to the premier league. he's had to rebuild his career after things didnt work out at city. he's loved here and after a difficult yr off the field has enjoyed playing and scoring.

he went nuts when he scored and i was delighted for him. he'll sign i think as long as we go up.

I'd be offering him some sort of deal like beattie was rumoured to be on when he first arrived. 15k a week, if we get promoted to the premier league during your contract it goes up to 30k and backdated to the start of the contract.

If we get promoted i think it would be a much better move to stay with us, at least for a season, even if he did want to move to a prem club. A proven championship striker scoring goals at that level is a lot more valuable than a league one player of the same ilk, and would be looking at a transfer to someone like stoke or fulham rather than wolves or wigan. There's no point in securing a big move to a prem team only to get relegated and back in the champ anyway.

I always had faith and had many an argument with Ken that he would come good... especially in this league.

However, right up until the middle of the season, I had doubts about Michael Doyle being worthy of a place in the starting 11 and he's proven me wrong.

Just goes to show that when we write off players (Collins is another obvious one), there's a fair chance that we'll be very very wrong given a change in circumstances.

It goes without saying that the drop into League 1 has helped many of the team, but equally I think confidence and a different style of play helps immensely too. If, and that's a big IF, we get promoted, any chance we can hold off the "Yeah, but he was only good in the League below" style comments and put some faith into the judgement of the manager?

All involved will have earned that.

Yep Houso - I used to be very frustrated with Ched. Always said that he had a hammer of a shot on him but it was the rest of his play that was well below par. His anticipation and movement was abysmal. That's what has really changed about him this season. Probably a lot down to Danny's encouragement and support, the way we play now under DW and the experience of people like Cresswell & BT. Ched seems to read the game better whereas last year he was lazy and let Cress do all the running. Breath of fresh air this season and yes the humble pie tastes sweet.

I'm still not sure his anticipation is that of a natural "goal poacher".

The type of goals he's scored have been geting room for a shot and letting go and not regulation "tap ins" as the likes of Edwards/Dearden would get on a regular basis.

35 goals would suggest it doesn't matter if he's not a poacher :)

Thats what Cresswell is there for or Porter. Trouble is neither one has been doing that. We really havent scored that many tap ins this season

I just hope if he is found not guilty and we do play in the Championship nex season Ched realises just what a following he's got here and hopefully we'll be able to keep him and his goals, like Alan Pardew has said to his players, "the grass isn't always greener, yes you'll get paid more but it might not work out" look at Torres or Carroll, not that Torres was scoring at Liverpool but you get my drift!

Absolutely it does, however, my point was in response to Keni who was saying he thought his anticipation and movement had improved greatly. I agree entirely with his movement (and more importantly I'd add effort in as well) but not so much the anticiaption which I think would add another 5 or more to his total.
