Chesterfield got relegated today, he hasn't played in their last few games, but unlikely he'll fancy playing in league two and they'll need the money and we need another striker....

The football season will end soon, so let the summer transfer speculation begin

No speculation from sensible fans . The bloke is not good enough for Sheffield United Football Club.

Let's not start all this again . It's for the under 16 years of age .

;)

Personally I would sign him. It's not like he's going to be our main striker next season.

If he comes on the cheap he could be a fairly cheap replacement for someone like McNulty.

I think we all agree there's better strikers around such as players such as Gallagher / Ward etc.

Striker who hasn't scored in L1 in the last 4 months.

I don't think so.

Wouldn't get in our current 18 and certainly isn't required in our Championship side.

Our Chief Executive was quoted as "not in a million years" wasn't he ? I think that should give everyone a clue.

#onegoodseasonsleazebag

He couldn't even quite manage that in truth.

I didn't believe he'd get back to this level so quickly for a few reasons, football fitness being one, which is different to general fitness.

I thought he'd proved me wrong for a while in fairness but the inevitable injuries and fitness issues arose.

He wasn't good enough for us this season and he certainly won't be next.

Be quiet you.

I don't want ched back, the time has passed. But this statement could've been applied to Leon Clarke until a few weeks ago.

A quality player (which ched still certainly is) will always get goals and ched is good enough for the championship. I just don't think he's what we need as he would be divisive

It's 7 years since he last scored a Championship goal and I doubt any Championship side will ever sign him. An unimpressive strike rate for a L1 side plus injuries says to me he'll never be good enough again.

Well he was in prison for a while so the 7 years thing is perhaps a little bit misleading, whilst being factually correct.

Not misleading at all, he's done nothing that would make him attractive to a Championship club. His strike rate this season is 5 goals from 20 League starts and 5 sub appearances. No Championship club will be interested in that and his ankle injury isn't clearing up by all accounts. The majority of Chesterfield fans on their forum seem to want shut of him if they can get a fee.

Ok, in that case hes got a total of 40 goals in two league one seasons. That makes him on average a 20 goal a season striker.

Chesterfield fans want shut like our forum wanted shut of Clarke... yet a fit Clarke has 5 in 4 games isn't it...?

Thankfully, the club has moved on from and beyond Evans and will now be looking a better targets

Leon Clarke is an excellent comparison. Scored a few Championship goals when younger. In the last 7 seasons he's banged in goals for fun in League One. He's had 2 seasons in the Championship in these last 7 and scored 4 goals.

He's coming up with us because he has a contract, no Championship side will ever sign Clarke in the way I very much doubt any Championship side will ever sign Evans.

I like Clarke and he's currently playing very well but I doubt he'll be first choice in the Championship.

The important thing is Evans isn't coming back to us. I'd be seriously pissed off if Paul Mitchell's profile of a striker we need includes Evans. Wilder has constantly stressed they investigate "character" as a prime requirement and Evans isn't the character or player we would want.

Aint going to happen
water under the bridge
might have been worth a look if hed stayed fit scored 20 and kept Chesterfield up

people slag off hanson and previously Clarke for not scoring so what merit is there in signing someone who hasnt scored in 2017

Can we all sack off the talk of a Ched Evans return now, please?

Many moons ago he had an excellent season for us in League One but, is now set to become a League Two player (After a poor campaign for Chesterfield).

I'm pleased that he was finally acquitted and found a club after being ostracised, however, he will not be playing for Sheffield United Football Club again.
