Che Adams

Good player and would improve us. Not sure wilder would want a guy with a track record of jumping ship when things go south.

Some people on here got their knickers in a twist because he tweeted something along the lines of "moving to a bigger club" (or something of that nature) on Twitter.

He was 18 (?) at the time and moving up into the Championship from League One, and quickly deleted the post and apologised when a few Blades replied.

Mountain/molehill. I'd be happy to have him back.

He was only a kid! Still is. They say daft things without thinking all the time. I suspect he was just gassed about his move and rightly so.

Incorrect. He was retweeting anti-Sheff Utd propaganda from Wednesday fans.

He’s receiving hassle and insults from some of our fans
So as a young naive kid, he thinks he’ll get some revenge and re-tweet anti SU stuff,

Basically football players should keep off Twitter or not rise to personal insults about them.
It’s no big deal to me...think he’ll be in the PL next season, who with I don’t know.

The club will need succession planning to replace Billy The Hero. Why not someone like Adams?
He's the perfect fit for me, really good all round striker, started his professional career with us. He's different to Sharp but I think he'll go on to play at a higher level than Billy which is where the problem could be in the long run, if we can't match his ambition he would move on. Although Billy did that too for a while!

He wanted to leave so Wilder didn't stand in his way and at the time he was a right cocky little shit, so letting him go solved that problem too.

Seems to have sorted himself out attitude wise though and would certainly be capable of the step up so maybe, who knows. But I suspect a Burnley/Brighton/Leicester/ Palace/Southampton could offer him 20k more a week than we could at the moment.
Wasn't he 'rested' last season at some point due to 'off the pitch issues' ?

Screenshot_20190513-104606_Chrome.jpg Get him back.
He has that extra bit of magic that you need in the Premiership.
I would have him over FF every day of the week.
Young still, English, hungry, still something to prove.

Adams look like the real deal to me, I'd sign him in a heart beat. It's not just his striking ability that stands out but also his movement, skill and vision.

Hopefully the rest of the premier league clubs will be to busy trawling the foreign leagues for 'proven quality' to notice Adams' rise.

Trouble is, they turned down (alledgedly) £12M from Burnley in January so the price will be higher than that, even though we'll have a sell-on to take into account.

As I've said elsewhere, if we didn't know anything about him, his past, the former link etc, he's exactly the kind of player we'd be looking at.

My issue with Che is that he has only scored 45 goals in 160 plus matches outside of the Prem. Where will our goals come from? For the record I do think he could be a very good player.

Are Birmingham still up shit creek with FFP or has that all gone now with the points deduction?

If it's a rolling 3 years could they still be up against it?

Could £10 million be enough to prise him away...

Also seem to remember a fuss at the time about him liking a tweet about the other lot being the best club in Sheffield.

But he posted this last month, open to interpretation but he seems maybe to be wishing us well

We're going to have to pay £10M plus for a striker, that's a given, even if we go for the likes of Assombalonga. It's unlikely that any of them are going to be proven in the Prem so we're going to be going for potential and a style which will suit as and cause Prem defenders something to think about. Che pretty much ticks all the boxes. He was looking good alongside Billy in the latter part of the season before he left and has undoubtedly improved since then.

He's only 22. If he were a few years older then I'd understand. But this season looks like his breakout season where all that talent has clicked into place.

and he's played under a manager who likes to secure the draw first so could be a different player altogether the way we play.

I was just marvelling at a quote LoughboroBlade found from Wilder saying Adams had matured a lot recently. Been keeping tabs on him then Chris?
This is the sort of 'risk' I'd like United to take and he brings speed to the front line. I'd like to think B'rum need to sell to set their FFP accounts right but I'm sure the ineffective points deduction has probably taken care of that.

I think he spoke to him at the EFL awards too. I’m trying to keep tabs on how Wilder’s keeping tabs on him.

I can see Leicester looking at him as Vardys successor and I imagine he's theirs if they want him.
Not knowing what if any the relationship between him and Wilder is all I'd say is IMO he ticks as many if not more boxes as Assomballonga.
Getting both would be incredible and as others have said give us a great chance of scoring the goals that would keep us in the top flight.

I don't care about stupid details like this. My point still stands. You're telling me you never did something without thinking as a kid? You learn by making mistakes. I'm sure he would think twice before doing it again.

I would imagine him being a Palarse type player as well, in fact any of the bottom half could probably be interested. £10-15M is much less of a gamble for them than us not to mention they'd top us for wages as well.

That’s fine if you don’t care, I just wanted to make sure that people knew what the actual facts were.

All fair points but don't underestimate Wilders ability to sell "the project" (Not keen on that term). He gets players to buy into a big family with common goals aspirations and targets. In short he's the best salesman we've ever had.
Because he believes in the product.
Don't underestimate that.

I remember when Wilder joined us as manager.

His words were (paraphrasing) I tell them straight about the potential of the club, his management style and why he wants that player with his ideas regards how he can get the best out of that player. He treats this as a “personality test”.

If the player and/or the agent are more interested in wages and waiting on their other (first choice) options.
Then in Wilders opinion they’ve failed the 1st part of the test and his interest cools.

Wilder wants players who want to join his ride to the top.. He doesn’t want mercenaries.

It will be interesting next season because Wilders style/ attitude will work in the lower divisions
But in the PL then many quality players are simply mercenaries and don’t care as much about their club.

I'd rather spend big money on Adams than Maupay.

Quadruple like.

My issue with Che is that he has only scored 45 goals in 160 plus matches outside of the Prem. Where will our goals come from? For the record I do think he could be a very good player.

1 in 2 ratio for an average team in the championship last season.

Just as a completely random example, his record of 45 goals in 160 matches is better than Didier Drogba at the same stage in his career - largely in a tougher division too.

Don't doubt that for a second but it's less likely to have such an impact in this division as it did lower down.
