Will Charlton increase the allocation if we sell all 3000 tickets?

I would like to go to this match.

HH

Are the tickets unallocated seating this time? It was last time we were there, which seemed to cause a few issues.

They have about 15,000 empty seats every home game, so I'd imagine they'll give us more if we sell out.

If not, there's an alternative solution....

We took nearly 2000 to a shithole like Millwall in March when we had nothing to play for. I'd imagine that we'll manage 3,100 for a decent ground like the Valley with United doing much better.
The Valley is a great away game, I would think we will easily shift 3000 tickets. CW is putting the pride back into the Blades.

Train booked. Hotel booked.

Only thing to decide is whether we go and see Slick Rick on Saturday night or go to the Star Wars exhibition on Sunday.

Decisions decisions.

I know the Bury tickets'll be bloody hard to get hold of, but do you think we'll sell out Walsall?? Cheers

I went to the Valley around 1969. I'm assuming we lost although I can't remember with certainty.

What I do remember though was that it took an age to get there, it was freezing cold and raining and their ground had a huge fucking open terrace, must have held 30 or 40k on that alone. I think the Rothmans yearbook listed their ground as having the highest capacity in the league at the time, 70k+ if I'm not mistaken. It was a right dump though.

Was this the c.1966 0-1 cup victory, Mick Jones. I was at that one.

Like this bit
"Adkins was sacked by Sheffield United in May. Chris Wilder – who had been the Addicks’ top managerial choice in the close season – replaced him at the Yorkshire giants"

For anyone driving down, and going over the Dartford Bridge thingy don't forget to pay your £2 beforehand.

Back in May when I went down for the U18s Final, I thought I would pay afterwards (they give you before midnight the following day) but by the time I arrived back at 3 in the morning all thoughts of that went out of my head until the notice landed on the door mat a few days later.

Fortunately if its your first time they give you 14 days to pay your £2 and the notice is cancelled.

Biggeyblade and myself will be taking the other halves. First time at the valley for me. Looking forward to it

It was my first ever away game with my Dad, FA Cup about 1966, we won 1-0, Mick Jones.

When I lived in South London in the late seventies, it was my nearest league ground and I once saw a game there which featured two ex-European Players Of The Year in opposition to one another, who were they? (I've done this one before and Silent isn't allowed to answer :-))

At that time the capacity of the Valley was 72,000 and if I remember right you could walk from behind one goal to the other end at half time. That was the largest bit of terracing I have ever seen easily bigger than the ones at Burnley or the old Leeds Rd Huddersfield grounds. My visit around that time was to see Charlton v Millwall :eek:

March 1969 lost 2-1 or Tues night in August 1969 lost 3-2?

Cheers for that, the March '69 game sounds right judging by the weather conditions and time of year.

Shit weather, shit ground, shit journey and losing. God, how many times can we put that combination together over the years!
