Bearing in mind the thread just started by Jim Chim. on ins and outs, what are your thoughts for this season? Who do you expect to be in the top 6 and who do you expect to be going down? I'll start with my prediction as follows (head ruling heart on this occasion);

1) Middlesbrough
2) Nottingham Forest
----------------------------------
3) Burnley
4) QPR
5) Coventry City
6) Reading
----------------------------------
7) Bristol City
8) Sheffield United

Contd.
----------------------------------
22) Preston North End
23) Scunthorpe United
24) Watford

Looking at your list makes me realise how open this year's championship is going to be. I can't see anyone running away with it like Newcastle and West Brom did last year.

1) Forest
2) United
3) Norwich
4) Cardiff
5) Hull
6) Middlesbrough
7) Reading
8) Burnley
9) QPR

22) Swansea
23) Scunthorpe
24) Portsmouth

1) Boro
2) Ipswich
--------
3) Forest
4) Reading
5) QPR
6) Cardiff
-------
Burnley, Norwich and Hull to contest play offs but miss out
.........

13) SUFC

.........

22) Milwall
23) Portsmouth
24) Scunthorpe

1) Middlesbrough
2) Sheffield United
3) QPR
4) Forest
5) Bristol City
6) Barnsley
.....................

22) Derby
23) Scunthorpe
24) Portsmouth

1) Sheffield United
2) Sheffield United

----------------------------------
3) Sheffield United
4) Sheffield United
5) Sheffield United
6) Sheffield United
----------------------------------
7) Sheffield United
8) Sheffield United

:) Total league domination, UTB!

I actually see us slotting into the play offs, see what happens with the 'Offers we have on the table' and who knows.

Champs - Coventry City
Runners Up - Forest
Play Offs - Burnley, Middlesborough, Doncaster, Hull

Relegated - Scunthorpe, Barnsley, Swansea

United - 15th (a transitional season)

Seriously, what's going on with Porstmouth? They've got a hell of alot of good players still on the books yet they seem to be most people's picks for the drop. Is another points deduction on the horizon?

Boro
Burnley
-------
United
Forest
Reading
QPR

Going down; any three from... Swansea, Portsmouth, Cov, Scunny and Watford

They've only got 14 players on the books currently. They also don't have a goal keeper. Yes they still have some good players, but it's hardly rosy down there on the South Coast.

Boro
Burnley
-------
Forest
QPR
Pompey
Norwich (as the surprise package for the season)

Going down; any three from... Millwall, Palace, Preston, Scunny and Watford

Got to believe there are more coming in with at least one Prem drop out on loan. When the gaps are filled, or not (which means the kids are it) it is easier to predict (for what it's worth). Regardless, it is far too early to count us out of the playoffs, although if we start with exactly what we have on the books now it will be a struggle, where we pray for no injury bug to hit our key players.

Only thing that matters is that we won't be bothering the top 6 very often this season.

They have signed quite a few decent players with top flight experience, put got a solid squad to build upon. I just think this season it will click for them

I think brownie is right on this. Coventry shouldn't be written off. Boothroyd will get them fired up and has made 3 or 4 very decent signings. With Carsley and McSheffrey they've got two experienced heads with a proven record in the Championship. Boothroyd has also taken Clive Platt with him from Colchester who without being the best player in the world, is a right unit and a handful for defenders. He'll flourish with Boothroyd's tactics.......

That's why ive got them as my surprise team for the playoffs. The new manager will make them much harder to beat. He understands Championship football.

I had a quick look on their website under the playing squad, they have no keeper listed, a couple of decent players who will be wanting to leave like Boateng, a couple of others they can't afford like Utaka who I read somewhere in a "where did it all go wrong" article is on something like £65k a week, they can't sign anyone. In my opinion they are fooked. They won the cup but it might mean that they fold.

In no order as I think it will be very tight from top to 12th my top 6 is:

Us (a generation in this league means we know how to compete)
Boro (Boyd should bag a few)
QPR (see us in terms of manager so long as Leon Clarke doesn't play too often)
Norwich (score goals and have a winning habit formed)
Burnley (good team even tho Laws is there, depends if they can shake a season of losing off)
Forest (Davies knows what he is doing but they may have overachieved last year)

Surprise push to Donny and Cov

The money problems will screw Pompey, Hull and Cardiff

You sly devil. Spent a while trying to work out who the U's were in this division.... didn't click someone thinks we'll win it. :D

Be surprising if Donny aren't the highest placed Yorkshire team.
If they keep key players fit, they've got a system of playing they're comfortable with and should do well.
Be great if they could make the play-offs.

Hold the phone - I'm not saying we'll win it. That's top six in no order.

I think Boro should be the strongest but I have a Boro mate who has no faith at all in Strachan no matter who he signs.

It will be a funny old season methinks

It would be even better for you if we went down as you could be able to tell all and sundry 'i told you so'

Past being that bothered to be honest.
The club's going nowhere, no soul, any young players of any worth will be flogged, we're not good to watch - doesn't really matter which league we're in.
It's a diversion, a nice excuse for a few pints and hopefully some comedy moments with Nozza and Kozza but like thousands of others I'm not that interested in the team and who's playing for us.
I'll still go but I fully understand why thousands of others have just thought fuck 'em, they're not worth it.

Champions: Boro
Promoted: QPR
Play Off Winners: Ipswich
Play Off Losers: Burnley, Forest and Cardiff

Hull = 8th
United = 9th
Leeds = 11th
Doncaster = 13th
Barnsley = 17th
Wednesday = League 1 mid-table mediocrity :D

Relegated: Millwall, Scunthorpe, Watford

Almost forgot that the Pigs had been relegated and predicted relegation. Haha. Added them to the 'others' in the middle instead!

Coppell is assembling a strong squad and pushing the boat out they just signed James from Portsmouth on a one year deal.
He must have beat off a few Premier league teams to bag him.

1. Middlesbrough
2. Burnley
3. QPR
4. Bristol City
5. Sheffield United
6. Nottingham Forest

Guarantee: Ipswich will be absolutely nowhere near the top two.
