50 plus years watching The Mighty Blades and on reflection I feel that The Championship is our level and looking forward I can see us being in it for many years.
In the 70s watching Currie, Woodward etc was the Crème de La Crème era
Warnocks tenure was great with a plethora of quality players coming through, great to watch and getting promoted was well deserved, but after 1 season we are heading back to The Championship, from then 2005 it was down hill.
The Wilder Times were bloody wonderful 4 fantastic seasons in which we got to The Promised Land.Superb season then fuckin COViD derailed that and we end up back in The Championship.
Will we go up or will we go down next?
Be an interesting poll( don’t know how to create one 🤣)
Love this team, always will but by Christ they put us through the ringer and I believe
THE CHAMPIONSHIP IS OUR LEVEL 🐣

Historically I think we’ve spent more time in the top flight than the second tier (could be wrong ) so there a a few blades fans of previous generations that saw predominantly top tier football.
Just depends on your age/generation
My young uns been going 3 years so from his point of view we are more of a prem team.
Just need a billionaire backer to stay there in todays game.

As Socratees once said 'the table doesn't lie. You were you are for a reason' Profound!

It's just Sheffield
A Premier UK City which was turned into a second rate city 30 years ago, which has now become a third rate city due to others moving on and Sheffield standing still and settling for third best in every single thing it does

If ever a football team mirrored the city it is located in, it's United

Totally agree JJ, can’t keep looking back though or we will become a fourth rate city.
Sheffield like United needs forward thinking , investment and direction.
Other cities in demise of note are Bristol, Nottingham Cardiff, yet the likes of Manchester and even Scouseland mirror the success of there teams.
London is a bit of both Imo .
Are their 20 bigger clubs in England than The Blades?Debatable.
Alas I do believe The Wilder Days are the best we will see…….. can’t keep looking back though🤦🏽‍♂️

Go on explain Wednesday fans then - optimistic to the point of insanity and an overinflated opinion of their standing in the scheme of things. Doesn’t sound very Sheffield does it? And before anyone says it that doesn’t sound very Barnsley either 😄

We've got several really promising young players coming through the system. Another year in the Championship may be just what the club needs to get them up to speed so that we can have a real crack at promotion and then survivie in the Prem.

They know it too
There is a certain group of deluded fools anywhere you go

In Sheffield you can choose either team, there is no social, political or religious reason to choose one or the other

But the few who are of a deluded nature that think are better than everybody else will always support Wendy

But the majority are just like us, they know the score, they know they will always fail in the end no matter what happens short term

Love that we are Championship. We just need more 3pm satdi games

The Championship is a league packed with inconsistencies. The top clubs have had the fewest upsets. I think it’s been like this for a while now, including our promotion season.
In the unlikely event that we make the play offs this season, we might actually win it for the same reasons!
Whoever gets promoted, will suffer the same inconsistency, but against better prepared teams. Promoted teams will have the PL money, but not the experience or consistency to stay up.

We will probably be better off out of it, until a few of those promising youngsters break through into the grown ups game. I think two or three seasons at championship level might do it. Get used to it, because the current squad is not quite consistent enough to make the play offs this season.

As an aside I also believe we need to keep the likes of Sharp and Basham to help the young players make the move to the next level. That IMHO is the short term future for our club.

Calling the Premier league the promised land makes me cringe. What bollocks that is.

When I was a kid in the 70's everyone used to say to me it's hard to imagine United outside the top tier.

I understand that was our claim to fame....we'd spent so long in the top tier.

We are still the current YORKSHIRE record holders of consecutive seasons in the top flight.........37 seasons.
Check the stats....neither Leeds, Wednesday or Huddersfield have had such a long unbroken spell in the top flight.

Iv got a lot of Leeds mates and iv been enjoying my weekends a lot more than they have this year. I don't want to go up and get slapped every week tbh. Fuck the big money signings out if there gunna damage the club and not give us a return in performance or fees later on. Keep academy goin how it is bring a few through in sell a few on. Win more than we lose and see how things go in a few years.

I think every team has a league where it is more comfortable and ours is the Championship with occasional trips to the Premiership. That suits me fine.
Two teams in the City with two others close by rules out top 6 in the Premiership, so we should be happy with the above, just as,for example Exeter City, shuffle between leagues 1 and 2.
With several teams in the Championship in poor financial straights and two with possible points deducted next season, we should be ok with where we are for next year.
