The edge.
Bring him back,we've been crap since he left. ....
Tin hat on.....
But,results since he left haven't been the best and would like someone who can be arsed to work out how we've faired without him.
Bored, obviously.

Yeah bring him back, I miss the comedic thrill of seeing him slip all over place, fail to handle the most basic of first touches and injure his own teammates.

Yeah, but.... if he could sort out all that I wouldn't mind seeing him back next season.

Maybe Spurs will sell, they probably should but I'd imagine it'd have to be another loan for us.

It was simpler when CCV was here, it was generally his mistake that cost us a goal each game so we could pinpoint and scapegoat accordingly. When he left it's a combination of 3 defenders who people think are good but are obviously not as they ship soft goals prolifically.

Watching the pig highlights again yesterday (couldn't resist) I noticed Basham in CM, I'd rather have a footballer in there but for me he's better in CM than in the back 3 as he's prone to foul and doesn't mark well enough.

They sought it here,
They sought it there,
But no matter how hard they tried,
They could not find it anywhere.
The reason why the football season fell flat.

Maybe, it's no-ones fault?
Not the manager,
Not the injured player,
Not the one who signed a new contract,
Not the one who's legs are too old,
Not the one who's been poorly,
Not the one who's wife couldn't settle,
Not the one who drank forty bottles of ring-bo-ree,
Not the one who didn't get a look-in,
Not the one who was played out of position,
Not the one who thought he was too good for this place,
Not the one who couldn't adapt,
Not the one who didn't have a full pre-season,

Not the Chief Scout,
Not the Groundsman,
Not the Catering Staff,
Not the bloke who shouts, "PROGRAMMES THREE QUID",

But this didn't stop people from trying to find the reason why

And the reason why is...

It's football.

We let in 3 against Barnsley when he played.

Correct.
When he had a run in the team though, things were different.
Up until the Burton game, which we can all agree was the turning point, Jake had played 12 games with only 3 defeats (Cardiff, Norwich and Forest).
He's not played a lot since and we've been a mid/lower table team.
I'm not saying this is the reason we've gone a bit average but I believe it is definitely a big factor.

We were doing really well when Jake Wright was in the team.

Jake Wright is the past, along with a few other ageing favourites. We need to plan for the future, or we'll be heading back to the past, i.e. League 1.

That is harsh on the defenders. A quick look at the league table shows that 8 teams have conceded fewer goals than us, and 9 teams have scored more goals than us. That seems to confirm that we have been quite good this season, but not quite good enough in attack or defence to maintain a promotion challenge. And in view of where we were 2 years ago, we have made great progress; continuing this improvement is now the key.

I don't think it's harsh, the goals we concede are quite often soft. We didn't concede many at the start of the season and become more adept at it as the season has gone on.

Can't be bothered to find out exactly which games he's played in but he's made 14 appearances for Ipswich, who won have 5 games since January 2nd.

Don't disagree entirely but with the players available, he would have been in my first team even just for the fact that stats say it's a good idea. And he keeps it simple, which I like.

CCV going forwards was great, though at that time everyone else in the team were playing at least 8/10 games. Roll on to December and CCV making mistakes but also the team average no longer 8/10s. So hard to judge whether CCV was a main cause for errata in those games he played, or the fact that the entire form of the team dipped.

Stearman - stats-wise one of our best players, but we seem more pedestrian/less progressive in attack with him in the team, rather than the early setup when he was injured and CCV played...

And if you could just give us the long number on the card and the expiry date please
Seem to recall a day once on bladesmad where Tony Soprano actually fell for this sort of thing. Was a highlight of that sites history

I'd rather him sort it out at somebody else's expense, rather than ours.

Perhaps we haven't kept the ball as well since Coutts' injury. And all teams concede soft goals - some of the goals conceded in the Champions League recently would have sent this forum into meltdown. And ironically, I think the defenders would have been regarded as less of a problem if they had contributed a few more goals at the other end of the pitch. Think where we would have finished if Baldock and Freeman had between them repeated Freeman's 11 goals of last season.

But they didn’t, so it’s a bit of a moot point. We aren’t a champions league side, we are a championship side and for me we stand off too much and let too many soft goals in. If we eradicated it it would help us.

I didn’t mind him, thought he was good. Given only young he’s bound to have made mistakes in games...all young players learning the game makes mistakes. I’dve happily kept him til end of season

I think we are in fact pretty much in agreement, that there is room for and a need for improvement. My starting-point is where we have been for several years, and in that context both the attack and defence have in my view been quite good. But to move up to the next level, they have to be very good, and that is going to be extremely difficult.

He's another young talent like Blackman that doesn't have the experience to perform at high standard on a consistent basis. At times CCV looked a stellar player, at times he made big mistakes that cost us as was the the same with Jamal this season. They will both have good careers and be better for their loan here.

I’m going to add a bit. (Also grabs tin hat).

Stearman played first 3 games we weren’t great.

He got injured.

We went on a reet run.

He came back.

We’ve been dodge.

(I know this also coincides a little with Coutts).

Again I can’t be bothered to look but I’m pretty sure the stats will show we were better with CCV than with the Stears. But one was not good enough and ones a crowd favourite.
