I've got a hoodie that keeps me warm in the winter, a splendid Groop Dogdrill effort.

...and people wonder why we have Plod erecting the steel walls etc. Whilever bellends like this exist at football, all fans will get treated like second class citizens.

Football fans always have and always will be treated a second class citizens regardless of what "wind-up " songs they sing.

Its no more or less of an issue than throwing mars bars at gazza, or abusing Strachan for being a red headed Scottish bas**rd ......

Lets concentrate on the real issue, which is that our squad aren't good enough for promotion currently !!

Nigel & Board SORT IT NOW !!!!!

UTB & FTP

Can't say I agree. It's very different in kind. It's all about stirring racial/cultural intolerance (& exactly at a time when that sort of thing's needed least).

Football's made great strides at cutting out racism. We need to be leaving remnants like this behind in the 1970s where they belong.

Agree with your other points though (about football fans still often being treated like shite regardless, & about us not being good enough for promotion as things stand).

Nowt to do with intellectualism, official measurements of intelligence, etc, etc. Everything to do with basic decency & fellowship (I was gonna say "comradeship", but let's just stick with fellowship...).

We're just more generally decent as a fan-base, by & large, than that lot over in S6 (with their continuing, hard-to-drop reputation as a racist club).

Great point.

Something that really gets my personal goat.

Intelligence is not compassion.

I know from personal experience what it's like to be on the receiving end of racist comments and chants. Even if the club does little or nothing to address the issue, at least they know it's been reported and are aware that it's an on-going problem.

On this occasion, the issue was dealt with swiftly and to an effective conclusion. By the club and other parties.

I'm hard to offend and can have a very dark sense of humour (humour is humour to me as long as the intention and understanding are there), but there is a difference between misconstrued attempts at humour and blatant racism/abuse.

Exactly. Being involved with the army for many years, the humour can be particularly dark, but you very rarely get racism. That black/Asian/whatever colour could be next to you in battle looking out for your back. And yes West Indian guys are quite often called Chalky, Irish Paddy, etc etc etc but these are accepted nick names and part of military banter. I hope that I treat all races the same and with the same respect I expect from others.
