Carney Blasts Blades Boss

fair enough mousey, i never said that I want people to agree with me, it's just my opinion. Speedo's ball through to sharpey could be considered as a long ball, but at least it was accurate and had direction. How many times have we already seen hopeless long balls? For example, we played about 75% of our possession against Cardiff in the air against one of the divisions best headers of the ball in Darren Purse. Many Blades could see it was not working, but we persitsted in doing it until the final whistle.
Anyway, what is your score prediction for tomorrow?

Out of interest ClarkeBhoy, being at training very often.... Do Blackie and his coaches spend time making the defenders practice lumping the ball up the pitch to a striker? :)

We were supposedly playing or trying to play proper football under Robson, that just meant 20 passes between the defenders followed by a lump forward the majority of the time.

To be honest Carney's response doesn't surprise me, I have seen Aussie sportsmen do similar slagging off like this before.

That's a bit stereotypical. It's a bit like saying that Beckham would act like Joey Barton.

foxy, no to be honest he doesn't do a great deal. we do a warm up from dean riddle. then we go into the circle with a couple of the players in the middle. this is followed by a game between themselves and then usually some shooting practice. then they do what they want.

so really there isn't a great deal happening at all.

that isn't a great deal difference from under robbo. I have always and will continue to blame the players for a poor performance, bad string of results or bad football.

however, I just hope that if things drop half as bad as under robbo, the fans slag blackie and not the players because they did under robson.

I wasn't being stereotypical, to be honest it wasn't surprising because it reminded me of the "little rant" Mark Webber had a few years back when he left Williams.

how can they play so poor under one manager and then so great under a new one? The manager has a role in them playing bad....

Its just another game......

It's all about man management. Robson clearly didn't know how to deal with each individual player, where as Blackwell does.

Well this thread got weird.

I'm still not convinced that this Carney report is real.

This is taken from Saturdays Sheffield Star:-

David Carney has reaffirmed his committment to United.

The Australian international has struggled to force his way into manager Kevin Blackwell's plan but insisted: "I'm determined to fight for my place in the team.

"Of course, it goes without saying that I'd like to be more involved, but I love it here at United.

"I get on really well with the rest of the lads and overall I'm really happy here.

"I'm just concentrating on getting back in.
"I've spoken with the manager and he knows that I'm totally focused on showing what I can do."

Carney blasts unrest reports

David Carney has rubbished reports that he is unhappy at Bramall Lane, and has reaffirmed his commitment to the Blades.
The Australian winger has returned to Sheffield following Australia's World Cup qualifiers and immediately sought out his club manager to scotch a story that he was in dispute with Kevin Blackwell over United's style of play and wanted to move on.
"I did a couple of interviews but things have been blown out of all proportion. Remarks have been attributed to me that I certainly did not make." said Carney, adding: "There is nothing more that I want than to stay here and fight my way into the team.
"I have spoken to the Gaffer and he has indicated the need for me to work harder and change my game in order to do that, which I accept. He has done wonders for United since he came to the club and I have really enjoyed the whole experience in Sheffield.
It is just unfortunate that I have yet to make the team this season having been away with Australia. It is frustrating and it is definitely up to me to knuckle down here. I want United fans to accept that the story is untrue and that I really want to do my best for Sheffield United."
