James Beattie and David Carney were unveiled to the Blades fans ahead of Saturday's friendly with Nottingham Forest.

The duo, who have just completed their transfers from Everton and Sydney FC respectively, were given a warm reception by Unitedites.

Great signings. :D

Good news. A new £6m strikeforce, who'd have thought it? Gives us the best forward line we've had in a long time, and probably the best in the division, with plenty of striker cover too. And now another midfielder too. The optimism is growing. ;)

really optimistic about these two, beattie is a coup for a ccc club if you think about it

carney looks good, our midfield looks a whole lot stronger now and we have the best striking force by far, really raring for the new season now :D

Here they are on the pitch today..........

Beattie signing is probably the biggest signing the club has ever made. Fantastic player! Still think he's overpriced but he'll do fantastic in the Championship.

My sentiments exactly, we have paid a wee bit more than he is worth (age and recent form should have brought the fee down by a million) but he is still, on paper, the best striker in this division and the kind of signing i never expected us to be able to make.

This season is gonna be something special.

Two top signings in my eyes

Beattie a very good striker especially in this league im sure he will prove it!

Carney not seen him play but am excited to see him play soon

not seen that carney lad so cant really comment.

Beatie, will hopefully get us some goals. Overpriced though really. £4 for jagz and £4 for him? id rather have jagz tbh. 7 strikers now.

Though we would have another center half brought in though.

Interesting to drag this thread back up in today's events....

The consensus seems to be that it was an ambitious move to sign him (though lets forget we had to do that in the first place!).... But also interestingly that he was also overpriced.

So we got ripped off on two counts then
Sounds like a bad cookie for us all along
...Good riddance to bad rubbish
