Just wondering if anyone is even going to this game? The 2nd of January, feeling rough and a going as far north as you can go, just to stand on an uncovered terrace in the freezing cold, what isnt appealing about that?

It sounds fucking marvelous! I'm off.

This will be my 92nd football league club (and about 105th ground) I've seen us play. I've waited (half :)) a lifetime for this.

I'll be there wi our gert, yung yung gert an her partner an yung gert might go anall !

Last time I went to Carlisle on the walk across the fields from the train my mate next to me got shot with an air rifle from the housing estate.

Carlisle factoid - Peter Beardsley was Steve Ludlams bootboy.

The only thing good about Carlisle.....

I don't think we'll be standing on an open terrace. I'd think we'll get part of the new(ish) 'Storey Homes Stand', which is all seats, with roof.

It will be freezing cold though. Carlisle is in December. Mind you, it's pretty nippy in July.

We'll be thereand were staying the night :s

Only place that happened to me was in Donny, walking by those flats near the station in the 80s sometime, the pellet hit the bottom of my trainer.

Me and me dad will be there, some good beers up in the Lakes, staying just outside of Carlisle in me nans cottage, great way to start the new year!

I'll be there with my dad as well and my mate from work. Traveling up and back with a Carlisle fan so hopefully we will be singing on the way back and or him!! Can't wait to go! We're in the storey? stand so we will be covered up.
Does anyone know if we have the uncovered end?

So a few more going than the 5 i expected! Only ever went through Carlisle once so i don't know where any boozers are, any info would be greatly appreciated, between the train station and the ground. Although when i suggested getting to carlisle early doors for a drink my old man said cautiously "We will have to keep our heads down a bit, Carlisle can have a few lunatics....." obviously he meant to keep down to avoid being shot by pikeys with air rifles.......

Until 2 years ago my job meant I had to stay in Carlisle very regularly. When I changed jobs I said that I would never set foot in the fucking place again, and I'm sticking to that.

I'm going too. I'm travelling from London with the missus to see my own family December 27th - 30th, then on to Edinburgh 31st - 3rd to see her family. She's arranged to meet old school friends on the 2nd, so rather than sit listening to a bunch of women yakking, I'm fucking off over the border for a few hours!

Southern softie! Its south for me, nearest game and that at around 80 miles.

Just got train tickets for 6 of us - nobody fancied driving. Gone up £4 since I looked last night - bugger! Few tinnies on the train, bite to eat in town centre before a gentle stroll to the ground and another Blades away win - perfect end to the Xmas break!

Away supporters in covered stand as well - bonus!!

I think the £4.00 hike is because 1st Jan is the the day the prices increases take effect.

We're staying just up the road from the ground the night before, so might get chance to test a few of the locals.

Will be updating on twitter/here :)

If you think Carlisle is the arse end of nowhere, just pray we never, ever get the chance to play Barrow, Workington or Whitehaven. All three make Rovrum look proper classy! Kendal isn't much better, but at least its closer to the motorway & railway.
I'm going to be there for my first United away game - one of those glory hunters i guess. :) Practically a local game for me - well, the same county, even if it is nearly an hour away.

I like Kendal. Nice little town. Traffic can be a bit of a mess though.
