Well reading the Sun this morning.......
Robbo to spend £3 million, for both Bardsley and Cahill.
I personally think Cahill is worth that alone.
Well Andy, we are showing with our defence playing so well, we don't need a midfielderhaha
Lets face it too, if Jags is worth £4 million, then Cahill is a snip at £3 million
Gary neville doesnt have much longer left, and the way that bardsley plays will mean that he will drop right into the squad. Im sure that Sir Alex has been keeping a close eye on him.
Lets face it too, if Jags is worth £4 million, then Cahill is a snip at £3 million
so how come in one of the programme's he says that he knows the stadium well and knows how passionate the fans are then? to me that means he's a blade and i always thought he was a blade tbh
NEW signing Gary Cahill is vowing to give 100 per cent for Sheffield United and says it does not matter who he supports.
The England Under-21 international defender, who has moved to Bramall Lane on a three-month loan deal from Aston Villa, was born in Dronfield and openly admits that half his family are supporters of city rivals Wednesday. But, after the collapse of a proposed loan move to Hillsborough last week, Cahill is set to make his debut for the Blades tomorrow against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
"If I had a pound for every time someone has asked me who I support I would be a rich man," he shrugged.
"People don't understand, and they think you're trying to dodge the question, but when you are in the game, you are not a supporter of a team, you support yourself, and you support what you do.
"It's one of those things – half my family like Sheffield United, half my family like Sheffield Wednesday – it's the same with my friends, it's a mixed bag."
But Cahill stressed: "Every time I pull on the shirt I will give 100 per cent for Sheffield United – and I am sure the fans will appreciate that."
Manager Bryan Robson swooped for the 21-year-old centre-back after watching his defence concede two more sloppy goals against Blackpool in midweek.
It remains to be seen whether captain Chris Morgan or Matthew Kilgallon will drop out tomorrow and veteran defender Chris Lucketti may also be in the equation.
Cahill started 19 games in the Premier League for Villa last season, alongside Olof Mellberg or Liam Ridgewell, but slipped down the pecking order after the loan capture of Curtis Davies and the £3.5m investment in Zat Knight from Fulham
"You don't need to be a rocket scientist to realise that there are five centre-halves at the club now," he said. "It is frustrating but the gaffer (Martin O'Neill) has let me know that I still figure very strongly in his plans.
"I still want to get back in the first team at Villa, but first I have to impress here and, as a young lad, I know that I am still a mile away from being a finished article."
Ideally, Villa manager O'Neill did not want Cahill to join a struggling club where his confidence might have been shattered by a string of bad results.
So while O'Neill blocked talk of a move to Wednesday, he was more than happy to sanction a move to the Blades.
"A number of clubs were involved and he felt the same as me," admitted Cahill. "It was important, for my progress, to come to a club that was going to do well, that had a good base and a good set-up. United will be near the top of the table and it is a chance to play for a big club, just down from the Premier League, with a good manager. I have heard a lot of good things and I want to be a part of it."
