Can it get any worse?

I was responding to someone slagging off Billy for not having a shot.

I would have thought that a Championship-level striker, as I'm so often told that he is, would have managed to be the taker of one of the 12 chances we've created. He's supposedly a goal scorer, what the fuck is he doing in the team if he's not even getting himself into a position to score goals?

Doing the work the other lazy excuse for footballers should have been doing? Not having chances created for him by his useless team mates?

No fucking way would Adkins get us to a semi final.

No one knows whether he could or will. However pepole quickly forget that it was this year we were in a semi final having humped one of the best sides in the Premiership and made their manager get a right blog on. 6 months or so later Clough us apparently a "cunt".

Happens to every striker but you keep believing it's all his fault.

At this moment in time the only thing which would cheer me up isn1 minute in the ring with cunts like William large and barney blade.

Top-class manager (who we all wanted); Saudi game-changing investment; a core of quality players...

And Crewe get their first home win of the season against us.

It's almost predictable now. God knows how it gets turned round.

This is as low as it gets

The best club any team could hope to play if they are having a bad run would be us. Its so predictable.

If we don't replace all 32 players in Janurary then it will not improve

Just got back and I'm really struggling to find any positives or see any light at the end of the tunnel. Adkins says there are no easy games at this level but there are and today was one of them. Crewe were bottom of a poor league, hadn't won at home, have had fewer shots than anyone in the league and allowed the opposition to have more than anyone else. It should've been an easy game and to be fair, it should've been all over by the 5th minute but Done and Sharp (again) missed good chances.

I've been hoping that Adkins would find the right formula and have been encouraged by his willingness to try new things. However, I'm at a loss as to how he could watch that today and think "This 4-4-2 is working well, let's stick with it."

Coutts and Hammond were too deep, too immobile and they left Sharp and Done totally isolated up front - the gap must've been 40-50 yards at times. This was exercabated by having Baxter on the right - he's not a wide midfielder. Adams had a bit of an off-day (struggle to believe it was a dive though) but he at least tried to get up with the front two.

Although Flynn was a clear man of the match, I wasn't sure about the decision to drop both full-backs when they've been amongst our best players. Think Wallace in particular was very unfortunate and we missed his surging runs particularly when they were replaced by Harris' high, hanging crosses into the 'keepers hands. I like Harris and he'll be an asset I think but he looked understandably rusty. It's almost laughable how we have such strength in depth at full back but can't put a balanced midfield together.

The squad is bloated, unbalanced, lacking in quality, devoid of desire and hunger and when Adkins' enters the transfer market, he usually makes things worse. I hate to write a player off after 3 games but what does Hammond offer? At least Doyle was horrible to play against. His passing is poor, he doesn't get about the pitch, he doesn't break things up, he doesn't offer a goal threat - I'm struggling to see anything at all in him and playing him just makes our myriad of problems in that area even worse.

I don't want us to change manager again and I hope we don't but we feel a lot further away now than we did as I came away from Swindon last May. It looks difficult to significantly improve anything until the summer and I fear it will get even worse than today's shambles.

No, it can't get any worse (although I'm sure people will be pointing to when we went down to the Fourth). No excuses. Adkins, the 'team' and the board need to take a long hard look at themselves after this. (And per-leese don't anybody say 'we're still eighth'...) We're relegation-bound with results like this.
Can it get worse...............of course it could. Fact is, if we don't know how to turn it around, how can we fix it? If we can't fix it who knows what can happen?

It was garbage.

Not with me.

People quote the semi finals one off games whilst simultaneously ignoring his appallingly negative tactics for the entire league campaign.

Can we really expect a new manager to take us up in his first season?

Can we expect any manager in any season to get us out of the third division? Yes we can and should.

Can we expect any manager in any season to get us out of the second division? No, but play offs should be a reasonable target.

Can we expect any manager in any season to win the first division? If you do get your medication checked.

Agree. I just don't think people expected us to be losing at places like Crewe. Until we're prepared to give a manager two full seasons we're probably doomed to stay in this division. Unless we drop lucky, and we don't do 'lucky'.
