All forum friends,

I have been thinking that we should get a flag to take to matches.

The flag should be in the custody of Foxy and Linz and or at their discretion delegated to a responsible member to look after and unfold at away and home games.

The flag should be "S2 4SU Forum Blades". I am sure some of our clever and artistic members could come up with a traditional and appropriate design.

Something with our badge on and the Union Jack, maybe a stencil of BDTBL. Maybe even with a small homage to past players and special supporters/fans. Design open to debate, perhaps with a vote on a few options/ideas.

The flag could be a focal point for forum members to meet at away games. Before and at half time. etc.

I am quite happy to fund the purchase of the flag. I don't know how much these things cost and have a memory that they have to be specially made (fire retardant etc. Not sure?)

Hope you all agree that this is a good idea, with the approval of Foxy and Linz comments and thoughts to follow.

If you think I'm a crackpot, well you are not alone.

It doesn't need the "forum" part.
Just the S24SU bit.
I'd put in for that.
Not that we will ever agree on what it says on it though.

Or how about a small homage to the good managers, with the latest top manager at the front?

Not that bothered about linking to the union flag or the England flag...just Blades crest with past managers and maybe the addition of Woodward/Currie/Deane....the genuine legends.

Foxy did have a flag about 10 years ago, if I remember right, but with the old forum name on?

If there was another one to be done, I'd suggest one in red, white and black stripes (like the ones Man Utd tend to go for). No St George cross or Union Jack, as it's a bit samey.

Agree. Should be the Union Flag.

Is that still a thing? I know the old idea is its only "jack" on a boat or something like that, but I'm sure I've read that isn't the the case anymore.

Perhaps we should have two flags? One representing the clique, made from better quality material, with everything spelt correctly? And a BM Exiles flag, in text speak, which will probably be put up in the wrong part of the ground?

Why are there question marks at the end of your sentences? BM exile?

Depends which internet opinion you mine.

Union Flags are meant to be flown from the jackstaff (i.e. the bow) of naval vessels, at which they become a 'Union Jack', to donate the nationality of the vessel. It's not a Union Jack, unless it is flown from a jackstaff, it's simply a 'Union Flag'.

Civvies who have had no military connection like the term 'Union Jack', because it brings about the notion of battle and patriotism and is less bland than Union Flag.

I love it how people use the White Ensign as some sort of nationalistic emblem too.
