Look the fact is That however you slice it Clough had not yet won a League Promotion and never been in the play offs let alone won one.

Warnocks record in the Play offs was good before he took us into them, the biggest problem any United manager has is that there is psychological block when it comes to the play offs, a bit like England with Penalty shoot outs, I don't think anyone now truly belives we will ever win one, it's Autos or nowt for us where promotion is concerned.

I'm not entirely convinced by Clough, but I do think if we're going to criticise we should be fair about it. It's true he's never won a league promotion, but I don't think he's had much opportunity to do so. With the budget he had at Derby they were always an outside bet.

I don't think we've got a play-offs block. Every time a team enters the play-offs they have a 1 in 4 chance of winning them. We've been in the play-offs 8 times and haven't won. Statistically that's not so very unlikely.

Providing play-offs continue to exist, I'm confident we'll have play-off final victories in future years.
