Can they play together? Maybe but not in this shape, and why would we change it I suppose?
Campbell the pacier, more athletic and bigger goal threat. But you lose the option to go long effectively. 5 in 6 speaks for itself.
Moore the taller, stronger hold up player, can lump it up to relieve pressure or go long as a tactic, but not as big a goal threat. 1 in 20 speaks for itself.
They both have their pro's and con's but who would you prefer in your 'strongest' XI?
I think, perhaps unsurprisingly for me, Campbell would be my preference. I wouldn't have said that until the Pigs game, but the understanding he has with Rak-Sakyi & Hamer, and from yesterday O'Hare, is really quite impressive. The neat touches and link up yesterday is something we've been waiting for from our attackers all season. Some of Campbell's touches were beautiful. That said, bare in mind that's Oxford. Still can't take away the attacking play yesterday was beautiful and Campbell was very much vital to that.
Moore has often had a thankless task, but he hasn't helped himself with his decision making and performances at times. Scoring 1 goal doesn't look good, but could've had a few. But it hasn't all been bad, he's had some belting performances and unfortunately not been rewarded with a goal, and he's been a great focal point in the early season that can't be argued. What we saw yesterday is what we haven't been able to see from Moore so far in terms of link up and partnership, what Moore has been trying and thus far failing to do in terms of building an understanding (O'Hare and JRS not blameless in that) - Campbell seems to have found it.
Friday is the acid test for the side with Campbell upfront. So far he's played sub-par teams in the main like the Pigs, Coventry and relegation-fodder yesterday. But you can only score against what's infront of you.
Whoever is the first choice, undoubtedly that will change throughout the season given they're both proven Championship players, and will both be able to make huge impacts whenever and wherever required whether starting or off the bench.
