Incoming? Cameron Brannagan

Bit of disrespect for Brannigan in this thread.

He performed very well for a fairly poor Oxford side this season.

He would give us much needed legs in midfield, but more importantly GOALS from midfield.

I wanted us to sign him last summer, but Oxford getting promoted scuppered that. He's a good player, more composed than Peck and a proper leader who influences others by the way he plays, which is something that we severely lack.

This type of player doesn't bode well for promotion.
If this is the best on offer, we need to look abroad.
Last season it was quality over quantity.

Him, Helik and Cummings their best 3 players this season, kept them up at the end especially Brannigan and Helik who scored big goals for them.

That, and the belter he scored against Cardiff was goal of the season quality.

I can only see Brannigan coming if someone leaves like Peck and to be fair as a signing to get us promoted then Brannigan would be a decent option. Similar with Joe Rothwell.

With Arblaster coming back though do we need another centre mid?

No disrespect here. We’ve been linked with him for a few years now (shock) nearly 30 now, not really a signing that gets the juices flowing. Ticks the boxes though.

Good player, would be a good squad option in the Championship and pretty cheap all round. It's not like we were flooded with central midfield options this season.

If we were to get promoted we can always sell players. I don't imagine we'd be building the team around him.

Brannagan has just turned 29 in May, a year older than Matt Grimes who we were linked with last season (summer and the lead up to JTW), who quite a few people on here (myself included) wanted us to sign.

I think we 100% need to add another quality CM to the squad. Relied far too much on Peck this season. Davies is always injured. We don’t know how good Arblaster will be post injury.

We were the worst team in the Premier League recently and yet a European team wanted to sign Anel in the January transfer window. Just because Oxford were a bad team doesn't mean all their players were bad. Just like last season. Just because we were 3rd in the league doesn't mean all of our players were good. It's a very naive and narrow minded attitude. Lots of teams will want to sign Jamie Vardy this summer. Do you think they shouldn't because Leicester were relegated?

Season afore Plymouth came 21st & survived by 1 point (only) by winning their last game of the season.
Peterboro’ were (still are) in 3rd division after blowing a 4 goal lead during 1 particular game.

I doubt he’s a player we’d look for but he’d be a good, if unexciting, squad player. With Davies, Peck, Arblaster and Souza here I’d doubt we’d look at him, and if any of the above left we’d be looking at better options.
