Everyone, including me, is guessing, as none of us know the actual contractual terms.

I will repeat. Villa CANNOT book an £18 profit, if half of it is contingent on us staying up, UNLESS the accounting period goes after the end of the season and we have actually stayed up.

If, for example, their accounts are to 31/12/23, they can only book the guaranteed half. No auditior in the world will allow them to book a 'contingent profit'.

Could they book it if let’s say its 9 million upfront and 9 in instalments first instalment due 01/07/2024. In theory if we go down they can just trigger the buyback clause before the instalment is due but still book it as an 18 million pound sale.

What happens if we both win the league?
Then people come onto the forum and say, "Yes, we won the Premier League (along with Villa - can I say Villa?) but did we win it with panache? Yes, we won most games, but did we win those games? It all seemed a bit turgid to me. We did have a big lead and then we nearly blew it - bottled it almost. At one point, I was sure Man City would catch us, OK they didn't, but even so, if we hadn't had that lead, then Man City would have won it. Does anyone else think this is the least exciting Premier League Win we've ever had? Plus, if we don't get our finger out and we carry on with this shit show - we'll definitely be relegated next season - although I hope I'm wrong".

No.

If it is structured as people are suggesting, it is a £9m sale with another potential £9m should we stay up. They can't book the conditional bit until it is a known fact.
The accounting concept of 'prudence', would ALWAYS prevent you booking an optimistic £18m up front and then reversing £9m later, if we go down.

Photos tomorrow lunchtime after medical. Announcement early afternoon and straight into the rest of training.

How's that early afternoon announcement looking?
Can you ask your wife if she's heard anything in the group-chat?

Ever since Dozy took over these deals have been taking forever to complete.
Need a CF sorting with the amount of goals Ramsdale's leaking at the other end.

Ahah got yer! Points deduction incoming..............

It depends on how the contract is structured. If it is an 18m sale of Archer with an obligation to buy back for an agreed amount upon relegation then 18m can be accounted for as a profit in this accouting window by Villa. As you say, we do not know the details of the contract but it does appear that there is a fee in the region of 18m and there is an opportunity for Blades not to have to pay the full 18m if you are relegated. The details about the 18m e.g. 9m plus 9m or 4m followed by 14m are unknown and just speculation. However, I would think it is reasonable to assume that Villa and Blades will agree on a deal that suits both parties.

Forest and Burnley have made a last minute attempt to sign Archer and have submitted cash plus player exchange to try to tempt Villa

Burnley -
Berge plus £2m now , £55 after the bank holiday , a swizzle lolly / twix and a Caramac bar at Christmas and a Lama trecking 1/2 day experience for 2 if they stay up

Forest

MGW plus —— fk
I’m bored 🥱

I'm in a place which has really spotty signal to the point where I think it's affected by clouds.

So where are we at? Medical part 1? Medical part 2: electric boogaloo? Actually signing a contract? Or are we waiting on the announcement video meaning he should be good to go after the international break, either this one or the next?

I expect the delay is Archer agreeing terms with Villa in respect to whether Villa exercises the buyback option. With a buyback clause, Archer has no choice but to join Villa. His agent will be negotiating salary in the event of different scenarios e..g. Archer scores 4 goals and is crap for Blades and gets relegated then a salary of 20k a week. But if Archer scores 15 goals, gets an England call up, and keeps Blades in the PL and Villa exercise their option to purchase him then a salary of 100k a week. These negotiations took over a week between Ramsey's agent and Villa after Burnley had announced they had agreed a deal with Villa.
