I was, pehaps his only fan on these boards when we sold him, telling all and sundry we were giving him away.Despite that, I wouldn't want an unproven player back so we can develop him for Everton. It would be a crazy way to piss away the Brooks money.

Not at all surprised in this rumour. Personally mixed about it and would prefer someone more proven at this level which Gallagher is, but saying that it'd be great for DCL to make his mark at United but don't want it for 6 months and then leaving back to Everton if he's done well.

Yeah Everton would have to sub his wages but that's what happens if you want to be rid. And they'd really have to do it this time not the speculated rumour like was floating for Beattie.

Were he available for loan, I think he’d be an excellent addition for this level. You’d be mad to think that not being prolific for a reasonable Premier League team like Everton rules him out of being of use at our level, and his basic attributes (pace, strength, movement) are ones that would definitely add to the squad.

For those that think a season of not scoring many at Everton is a good indicator of what they can bring to the Championship, Beattie joined us following a miserable season where he scored 2 in 15 starts and 18 sub appearances – both penalties. As a comparison, at the same level that season Christian Nade managed 3 goals from 7 starts (plus 18 sub appearances)...

Well I'd say that making 44 appearances for a team that finished 8th suggests he is/was.

Teams always strengthen every year. Everton have a new manager with new ideas and if he goes out on loan, it's probably because the new manager is bringing in some other signings in that area.

DCL has developed immensely since he left us. His all round play has improved and he would be an ideal player alongside a clinical finisher.

It suggests nothing more than that one club, Everton, think he is a Premiership player. I don’t think he’s good enough. Time will tell. Tufty lost no sleep over him leaving and I doubt he’d wantterbringimback.
